Fuel pump buzzing sound

2012 tc when parked in the garage sometimes there is a kind of buzzing sound coming from back of the car. Was told by the dealer that it's a fuel pump going its thing. Has anyone experienced this. My wife also has a 2011 tc and her car has done that too.

If they are both manual it is normal.

2012 is manual 2011 auto. Why would that make a difference?

I saw a video in youtube about this and the owner had a manual transmission and one of the guy there explained that it was normal. The automatic shouldnt be making the noise though since i have a 2013 auto and its not making that kind of noise

I don't see why auto vs manual would make a difference, but I have heard the same thing you have described, and gotten the same response from the dealer. Something about making sure the fuel is primed to the engine so it starts up quickly without having to turn the starter motor over too long. Don't love that response though because mine has made the noise for like a couple minutes at a time, and that just seems excessive to me given that explanation.

Manual and auto tC's will use the same fuel pump. Transmission isn't related to fuel delivery in this case.

Back to the OP, it is normal. If it gets very loud and inconsistent pitch, then have the dealer check it out.

Yes, the sound stays on for a couple of minutes and then just goes away. And it does it randomly.

I have an auto 2011 and it does the same thing.....at first I was freaking out but I asked the dealer and they said it does that to prime itself...

This was explained awhile ago.

Check page 20 of your Owner's Manual, it will be the second sub-section.

It states:

"Noise from under vehicle after turning off the engine: Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and, it does not indicate a malfunction."
