Default Hitch on a tC?

Hey all,

I want to put a hitch on my tC. I would only be using it for a bike rack. But does anyone have a picture of on on the Gen 2?

Thanks!

Well you can defiantly get one. And I don't have a picture of a mounted one, but I can tell you right now its going to look retarded.

I don't always have access to the Rav, that is why I wanted a hitch on the tC. I know it wont look great, but it will do the job.

I just ordered one from Curt on the weekend for a fit test and it will work with the stock exhaust. But if you were ever planning to upgrade to the Descendant Racing, it will not clear the muffler.

I sent mine back and ordered a trunk mount design. The Thule trunk mounts will clear the spoiler (if equipped). I'm just going to put some 3M down in the contact areas to prevent scratching of the car.

Depending on the weight of your bikes, this might be the best method. I know my bikes combined are lighter than 50lbs.

It took about 20 minutes to install.

Wow that hangs way back…it looks kind of strange. Have you considered mounting the bike forward of the support – i.e. between the car and the rack. Right now you have it ganging off the back of the rack. It probably vibrates quite a bit as you are driving down the road.

It doesn't move at all actually. The only reason I have it on the back side of the rack is because I had this bike rack on my 08 Mazda 3 hatchback. I couldn't get the hatch open with the bike between the car and the rack, and it's a pain to get off that way as well.

I was kinda iffy about buying a hitch too. I purchased the Curt hitch and it fits nicely. The hitch itself is tucked in right under the bumper and you can barely see it. You might want to get a hitch extension though. I have a T2 rack from Thule and it clears while its down but it didn't clear while i had it in the up position. I got the Curt extension and now its perfect. This is the best way if your gonna run bikes.

Looks good! I may be buying one soon. I don't always have access to the Rav and don't want to deal with scratching up the inside of the car. Plus I have a bike rack for 4 bikes so if anyone else besides myself goes it just makes it much easier.
