It's been awhile. Towing with Scion tC2..

Ive been gone for a long while, I am now at 60,000 miles. Went from 12,000 miles to 60,000 in one year. Moved out of Alaska lol. Cross country drives and everything. Thoroughly loving my Scion tC. have 30k left on my warranty,
I know a hitch/suspension could void warranty, only things directed towards drive train though. Could always remove the hitch and such if any issues arose. I have a bad idea, but it is an idea and I think I am going to do it. Looking at buying this trailer: Motorcycle Trailer it weighs 250 lbs. my motorcycle weighs 420lbs. that's 670lbs total, I want to order the hitch and wiring kit. The track is 2.5 hours away, so the question I have is, can the tC tow 700lbs safely on flat land with no detrimental issues? I hate asking for friends to load my car, and my bike almost got damaged when someone messed up loading it. =\ my car is a manual as well, so I don't think I would need an transmission radiator. Is a manual better or worst for towing with our cars? Any opinions are welcomed. I read people with Scion xB's towing fricken jet skis and ____ that weigh 700lbs+ 200-300lb trailers. If they have less horsepower, more awkward shaped vehicles we should be able too I'd imagine. picture of the above trailer loaded with bike Attachment 23160 Pic of me and my bike I want to transport Attachment 23161 examples Attachment 23162 |
I just think about it this way: The car is capable of seating the driver plus 4 passengers. Theoretically, 4 passengers could weigh at least 700 lb. You should be straight!

Just drove it 800 miles, worked like a charm. Not even a hiccup, if anyone ever comes across this thread and is looking to trailer a sport bike with a 11+ tC. I say, do it. I am having no issues at all.
