This might sound like a strange question... But when you lock your doors with your remote, does it make a noise?... A friend of mine said that they make a quiet beep beep noise (not a horn, more of a digital sound), however I thought that you have to have the security system for that.

 

i think they all come with the security system which is the red alarm button on the car no matter when you push the lock or unlock button it will beep beep

 

not all have the security system some you have to lock by key in the door. but the ones that do have the security system beep twice and the hazrd all flash twice.

 

yea thats what im saying if you have the push button unlock it has the systme

All of them have keyless entry. You cant buy one without it...

Single beep when you lock the doors, 2 beeps when you unlock. Hazards blink to match sound.



EDIT: I do want to ask though, why did the OP start this thread instead of just hitting the button on his key and listening?

 

Without any security system, they should have the electronic beeping sound, with the Scion security system, the electronic beeping sound should remain. If it's a different security system such as KARR, you'll probably get the horn sound.

 

well the one i test drove, we had to use the key to open it. so eityher my cold is getting to me or i might just have really bad memory.

 

Not sure if we use a different system up here but I got the security system installed on my tC and it does the same hazard lights flash and the piezo horn beep when locking and unlocking.

If you go with an aftermarket one like Viper then that's totally different as they probably got their own horn and different indicators.

The mechanic key is the one with no remote. Maybe that's the key you used. But all tC's come with keyless entry. Security is optional. If you use the key to open then you will not hear or see the indicators.

wrong not all come with the keyless entry most do for easy use but it is not an automatic add on its just like the upgraded audio most have this(now im not saying the premium blah blah blah but the rca preout ready radio is an upgrade not the basic) but all do not...

 

Couldn't get Scion's website to work on my phone but according to cars.com, remote keyless entry is standard on all '12 tCs. Convenience features, 5th item down

WRONG....

keyless entry is STANDARD. for ALL tCs.. old and new..

older 1st gens did not have a piezo.. 2nd gens do.

you DO NOT need a security system on the 2nd gen to have the piezo.. it's STANDARD.
and no.... the tCs DO NOT come with a security system. (unless of course, you add one..)
