Oil change questions
Tried to do a search but couldn't find the answer I was looking for, and I couldn't find it in the manual either.
Doing my first oil change soon at 1k just for piece of mind and another thread said that he some guy at Toyota Parts told him to put 5 full quarts in his TC2. Seems like a bit much for a 4 cylinder...
My question is, to anyone that has changed their own oil, how many quartz did you use? Is it bad if you put too much oil in your car?
Thanks for any help.

It's definitely bad to put too much oil in. But the car does take 5 quarts. While it is a four cylinder...its a pretty large four cylinder. Most four cylinders are around 2 liters flat, or less.
Toyota uses Nippon Eneos full synthetic 0w-20 from the factory. Viscosity is very low and that's how the tC2 gets good/great gas milage. Suppose to be better than Mobil1 (0w-20) full synthetic according to website below.

^^ that looks like spam/advertisement for Eneos... i have no idea where you got that information from..
since Toyota has their own branded oil that they use...

Spam... lol. I saw that info from this forum (or club scion tc) when I was searching. So I asked the Toyota dealer I bought my car from about it and they do use it. The manual says you can use different brand, but recommends 0w-20.
Next time I will do it myself and add 3 quarts, then let it sit and check it, little by little untill im sitting just below full.
As far as changing it early, I also had this idea untill I did a google search for "should you change your oil at 1000 miles in a brand new car?"
Suprisingly, alot of folks said not to especially if your car uses synthetic because the seals/rings will not "soak" up any oil in that time, and could/will cause leaks latter on. Google challange, gogo.
So, I waited till 5k, had the dealer change it, they over filled it, and from now on I will do it myself every 5k!
The dealer swears they put 4.2 quarts in mine when I got the oil and filter changed, but that ended up over filling it by about a quart. Big fiasco and I made them put it in writing that they over filled it, that's a sure and quick way to blow out your seals as more oil=more pressure=leaky seals.

ya the dealership did it to me too... twice and the first time they tried to blame me for it so i asked them why i would change my own oil when i get it for free. needless to say i have gotten a free oil change with every 5000 mile inspection and unfortunately im 4000 miles away from freebies expiring
