Mine is at the dealership today...hopefully getting fixed. Last Friday it happened to be popping like crazy so I pulled into the dealership. They found one of their technicians to ride along with me. He documented the popping with his phone. One step closer to ending this popping madness!

Just got a message from the Scion Case Manager for my issue. He says the dealer is currently performing the TSB to my car today. Should be done by the end of they day. I'll reply back with results as soon as I have them.

Wow! And to think, I spent so many dealer visits complaining about this exact issue only to be turned away and treated like an idiot each time. Scion finally fixed this- it only took almost two years!

Got my car back. No popping now! TSB seems to have done the job.

Any chance you can send me a copy of that TSB so I can have it when I go for my service so I can get that fixed too. The last time all I got out of it was some felt stuffed in the roof to try to stop it....

The pictures I posted is the tsb report but mine didn't fall under it cuz it a rattle and not a "tick" but they also couldn't figure out the rattle and said it was normal cuz my car is lowered and stiff suspension

I understand your frustration. I've been through the same thing. For me, the car had been good only for 1 month. The rest of the 14 months were stressful trying to get this noise fixed. The last thing the service manager had told me was "The car is safe to drive other than being annoying". Taking almost 2 years for this TSB is ridiculous. I wish they could give us some kind of compensation for the loss that we had to take.

I finally got my sunroof rattle fixed on Monday. When they were doing the final test ride to check everything they noticed a click coming from the passenger seat area. Well now they have ordered parts to fix that (I hadn't noticed it, probably because of the sunroof one).

But the parts are on back order so who knows how long it'll be before they get here. But at least the sunroof noise is gone now... Hooray.

2011 tC - Noise/vibration issue on sunroof/under dome light area (sunroof fully closed)

1st time it happened

2nd time it happened

I was wondering if anyone else have experienced this with their car (2011 tc). It seems like the wind is getting in under the dome light and its causing this loud noise and vibration. First time this happened was back in mid Dec. 2012. I was on the highway going around 115 -120 km and its fairly windy. It happens RANDOMLY. It happened again twice in early January 2013 so i took it to the dealer. I showed them the video, they took it for a test drive but it didn't make the noise. Basically they couldn't fix anything or determine whats wrong since it didn't make the noise during their test drive.
Today (tuesday april 16th) driving to work this morning the noise and vibration happens again and i took another video. I drove home from work and no issue (noise/vibration)
I'm at 57 100 km, my warranty will be up soon. I called the dealer and they said to bring it in again but it happens so random that the chances of it happening during their test drive is very slim.

It happens occasionally with my 2013 as well. I have been unable to locate the source of the noise either.

It happened to me 5 times now. i took videos on 4 out of 5 occasions, showed it to the dealer and had them listen to it. They took it for a test drive but it didn't not make the noise/vibration during their test drive. So they told me they can't fix or write a report since it didn't make the noise/vibration during heir test drive. I'm approaching 60 000km, my warranty will be up soon so i'm just concern if the problem persist after my warranty is done. I'll take it again to the dealer next week and will see what happens

Have you taken your car to the dealer to be check?

I have this problem pretty often. Mine isn't as loud as yours but I'm pretty sure it's the same thing.

I am 99.99% sure that it is the rubber weatherstrip that separates the roof and top of the windshield. I know a few people that have this problem and most say that is the cause. Just check and see if the rubber piece is loose where is meets the windshield. The dealer should fix it but they probably have to hear it first.

I will be taking mine in next week to see if they can fix it.

Luckily I've never had that problem, and I'm at just over 15,000 miles
