Are your 7443 tail light bulbs causing you to blow fuses? You need CK-type bulbs!!

2005 xB has same issue....
Hi,
Reviving this thread a bit....
I tried to install a 7443 LED bulb today in my 05 xB and had lots of frustrations....
Not to mention I crack the cover of one of the tails, but I blew several fuses to boot. The bulb would give me tail light but no brake light effect.
You'd think an industry standard would be an industry standard....but NOOOOOOOOOOOO (to quote the grat Belushi).....so I guess no LED brake/Tail for me....

7443 converted to 7443-CK 2005 xB
This is one of the best threads !!!!!
I had never heard of the CK alternate standard for the 7443 socket...what idiots came up with this one....
Anyhow, I got my 7443 LED towers (18 LED) converted and installed today.... To BAD I butchered one of the taillight covers "learning about this"....not to mention about 5 ten amp fuses until I did a DOH...
The true power of these forums is shown in this thread. The CK variant is known to like 8 people on this planet....and i WASN'T ONE OF THEM...hahahah
I am very happy with the lighting results, and after my butchery I decided to simply pop the red shield inside the housing by poking the little arrow connector out just a bit....since my LED towers were just a teeny bit too tall I was able to get them installed without having to fully pop the red shield...
I used the needle nose method to get the low + wire bent over and to the side rather than soldering an extension to the wire....thankfully the remaining wire is just long enuff to engage to contact in the socket....
I found a pair of gently used (mod) tails on ebay to swap in next week; nothing fancy, but better than a butchered lens on the passenger rear...Only $40 with shipping...

I need help with this!
Ordered regular led bulbs, got the wires as on the pictures, plugged them and third brake light is on. Also, when turn the ignition key to ON and ABS light comes on and tire pressure sensor starts to flash. Then switched back to the OEM and everything is back to normal.
Checked the fuses for tail lights and ABS, they are all right.
Then started to play with the wires of the bulbs. Tried every possible way - separated the ground, touched the High + and the Low + together, wiggled the wires around. There was no positive result.
So now that I do the wires on the bulbs as mentioned here in the thread, third brake is on, as well as the two led bulbs. When the brake pedal is pressed all tail and third brake lights go brighter.
Why the third brake goes on, when the brake pedal is not pressed?

Ya. So I got the 15 led matrix 7443 ck LEDs from autolumination. Bad idea.
led on left. stock right. and this is with brake being apply. tails are tinted with
2 1/2 coats of vht. as you can see, led barely produces much light, not in close to as much as stock. Although the color looks hell of a lot better.
so I'm thinking I might get those super expensive 60 led ones (http://autolumination.com/7443_7440.htm the $26.99 each ones)
what do you guys think?

Bringing an old thread up, I ended up making a conversion harness that goes from 7443CK to 7443 standard. The only thing that needs to be modified in this case is putting both of the grounds together on the LED bulb. Otherwise the harness basically switches the ground, high and low + to the proper pin outs for a standard 7443.
P.S. I am using a 60 tower bulb and they're definitely bright. Also, the reason you have to combine the ground pins on the LED bulb is because the tC uses a CK specific socket, so if you order a 7443 socket it will not fit into the taillight. I have only found one place that sells the proper socket and it locks into place correctly.

DIY and link? haha! This the switchbacks?

This is for the taillights so they're not switchbacks, but the same method could be applied for switch backs. I have not done a DIY yet as I didn't know if there was any interest. I'll have to find links to all the parts needed and do a how to.
