Got my tC in Nov. Most of my miles came from doing trips to TX twice a month for 4 months.

Yeah, Kenny tran told ne that the first thing he wants to attack are the breaks for auto x. Then the suspension, I'm going to see if he cam try to talk with hawk or some other company into getting some pads for the tC2.

I;m not too far behind you guys. I got mine in April and I have 7k on it.

But as to pads, adam's rotors seems to suggest STOPTECH has pads out.

slightly off topic question: when resetting the caliper, is the one on our car just a push-in or is it a turn-in? I assumed it was a push-in and pushed it in a little bit with a crappy c-clamp and got it on, but when i first drove around it felt like it was riding that brake since i hadn't pushed it in all the way, but after a bit of driving it returned to normal. is that okay or should I take it apart again and do it right?

Well if it was not a push in type, you never would have got them on there. The screw in type of calipers do not budge with a C-clamp. My Mazda Protege' taught me that. I broke one of the big Craftsman C-clamps trying to install new pads. Finally found the screw behind a dust cap, easy as can be after that. If it feels ok, then it probably is ok.

^ I think we have a winner!

Anyway, I was reminded I hadn't updated this in a while. EBC Brakes emailed me back and said they do make both front and rear pads for the tC2. I couldn't find them listed online, so you may have to call as they didn't give me a part number.

EBC emailed me back today with info on the rear brake pads! Below is a list of the part numbers for the rear brake pads. I didn't include the part numbers for the fronts because those are pretty easy to find. I'll also update my initial post.

Ultimax-
Green Stuff-
Red Stuff-
Yellow Stuff-

They also offered to send me a set of Yellow Stuff pads to test at my next AutoX event! Woohoo! Hope they follow through, because these could make serious improvements to my lap times.

EDIT: Hold on before ordering. I want to confirm the part numbers again...

Hey, don't buy rear pads just yet. Unless the rear pads are the same for the tC2s as they are for the tC1s, the numbers he gave me are wrong.

I apologize for putting bad info out there, but I didn't check it first.

Okay, I have some answers! Sorta.

EBC assures me the rear pads from the tC1 will fit the tC2. Jennifer@Scion was kind enough to provide me the details on the rear brakes from both tC models and the pads are very similar. In fact, the tC1 pads are slightly larger than the tC2 pads (by 0.4 cu. cm), though the tC2 rotors are bigger.

I'm definitely no expert in brakes, but given that both EBC and Hawk have told me using pads a slightly different size is okay, it sounds like the rear pads from the tC1 will work on our cars. But as always, try it at your own risk!

I updated the original post with a chart that has part numbers and approximate cost of the brake pads. If anyone has info on other aftermarket pads, let me know and I'll add it to the list!

Thanks!
Paul

P.S. Sticky???
