Default Coilover question

I've new to lowering cars and I'm still learning about it. I'm trying to decide which coilover brand to get. I've been doing research and some said that some brand allow for a good amount of a drop and so do not. The look I'm trying to get is having an inch or half and inch gap all the way around. Does anyone know how many inches I'm dropping if I'm planning to do that? Also which brands do you guys recommend?

Lowering springs can get you to that mark too, but with no future adjustability. My eibach sportline springs give about and inch wheel gap front and rear. but looking back now I wish I had saved for coilovers... If I did I could lower it more, or raise it, or whatever.

I don't know what one give what advantages\disadvantages, but the k-sport coilover system seems to be the most popular for our cars.

I didnt drop mine all the way down only lowerd about 2 to 3 inches from Standard height. I like the aggresive look. I have had my BC coilovers on for about a month now and they are amazing in my opinion. Some people have been getting raceland coilovers and Ive heard good and bad things about them. They cost drasticly less than BC but I wanted to pay a little extra for a bit more quality. You can drop it down to where you want with BC coilovers.

the differences to look for in coilovers is maximum drop (so u know how low you can go) and spring rate/dampening which go into adjusting the strut on how stiff or soft you want it to ride (for comfort or race spec).

of all the coilovers, racelands do not have any dampening options which is why they suck, they are the worst, they are cheap, they should be avoided.

of the other brands there are Tein, K-Sport, Standard, BC, KW, Megan

Based on what i've heard/seen/expereinced
BC and K-Sport get you the lowest (BC has an extreme low option too or something)
KW and Standard are more track ready than the rest, with Standard also having less expensive street options
Tien and Megan are pretty basic coilovers

I have Ksports and love them. They will get you where you want the car sitting right now, as well as further options if you decide to get different wheels, or just go MOAR LOWWW

Thanks guys! Good to know. But do you guys know how many inches I would be dropping if I am a stock height right now and if I drop and leave an inch or half an inch gap?

I'm doing some research and found BC (I think stands for Bour Chann not Buddy Club right?) and Megan's were good. Which one should I go with and would those coilovers give me the drop I want?

Just measure from your fender to the top of your tire and subtract one inch.....like someone else said, lowering springs will get you there (TRD or Eibach). Any coilover will give you the drop you want, it just depends if you will want to go super low in the future, have adjustable dampening, etc. Megan, BC, Tein, or Ksports would be fine for you.

But doesn't lowering springs only lower your car a little bit? I read that TRD only lowers from half an inch to and inch and a half?

You really aren't going that low anyways leaving an inch gap.....just get coilovers should you decide to go lower..

Here's Tein S-Tech springs:

Thanks man. That really helps alot. Idk if I want to leave an inch gap. I'm not sure if that's what I'm trying to say. I want it where it gives it that "fit" look. Basically where there is enough room so I don't rub when I turn but low enough so there isn't that big of a gap. So idk how much I would be dropping exactly.

Just get coil overs and you can adjust them however high or low you want.

If you want the cheapest ones I say raceland coilovers but remember on some coils the lower you go the rougher the ride

Theres a lot of back and forth with the racelands. Im not bashing them in anyway what so ever. What "I" did and this is soly my opinon was save just a little more and spent a little extra for BC coilovers they look amazing and they feel great

Thanks for the input guys. I'm trying to decide between Megan's and BC Racing. Which one should I go with and which spring rates do you guys recommend?

...and now we are back to where we were yesterday. The higher the spring rate, the stiffer the spring. You don't need a super high spring rate for a DD....
