Default Struts and Shocks

I have looked the web and can not find a good replacement shock and strut for our 2011 Tc.
Has anyone changed the struts or shocks and what did you use ?
Thanks

by shocks do you mean coil overs or springs?

We want to stay away from coil overs do to its driven all year round here in Toronto and the salt and potholes will kill then in no time.
We have over 80k and we are on our second set of struts and shocks ( A1 roads here ) now and with the resent cold the rears are freezing and its pounding the car to death!

Bilstein has some pretty good quality parts. Coilovers aren't a bad option if you go with the correct spring rates.

I feel ya with the road conditions, im about 45 min drive from t.o. so I understand. I totally thought you were modding your ride, misinterpreted your inquiry for better quality replacement parts.

In terms of replacement parts I would only suggest OEM parts and memorize where the potholes are so you can avoid them. You might be able to find amazing quality products but your going to pay a lot for them and they'll only last you a bit longer so I'd stick with something middle grade and wont cost a lot.

In the end what would be your best solution is off-road suspension, it can take a beating and will last longer because your not completely off road. But like I was saying previously... not worth it price wise and not even sure where to get it for a TC.

Good luck with the search fellow Canadian

I would love to find a Bilstein or Koni replacement for the OEM but I have had no luck.
We lowered it on TRD springs and it's mostly a nice ride in the summer but the winter cold is causing the oil or the internal valving to stick. I took the rears off and moved them by hand at room temp then stuck them out side over night and in the morning could only compress one shock 1" the other not at all.
The dealer has replaced the replaced shocks and the same problem.
So before we pound the car to death we want to cut our losses with OEM and install a good shock.

I'm sure if you got some measurements on the ones you have now then they can match them probably. Plus if you are lowered even on springs it will cause the shock and strut to wear a little faster especially in harsher climates.

Or you can try Rockauto.com for shocks and struts by KYB. That is what I am running with Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Decent buy, cheap shipping.
