Throw away those OEM rim protectors (that is all those OEM tires are good for) and put on some Michelin X-Ice Xi2 winter tires in 225/45R18 size. Then get yourself some nice summer wheels and your car will handle great in all weather conditions...TRD wheels are a real good option for the summer.

^I agree. Use the stock wheels for snows and get yourself some TRD wheels for summer.

Or...

Check TireRack for sizes and packages.

Default winter rims

If you want steal rims call up your local junkyard and find 16" toyota rims.
Pickup mine before the car came in, we put on 205/60-16 and so far with the 125cm of snow in 4 days they have done there job.
The 16" are tight to the brake.
If you want bling the do like the others say and use the stock rims with winter tires and get a nice set of volks for summer.
Just my 2cents worth.

225/55/16 is a slightly better match, things its the best 225/16 available.

195/65/16 is an exact match, but good luck finding tires those size, if they exist at all.lol

Default My tire choice...

Hey guys, I'm new and just thought I'd start contributing and help grow the forum.

I bought 215/55/17 Michelin Pilot Alpin PS3's on steelies taken from a Toyota Avalon. (I went with a narrower tire which gives better traction in winter, and sized down one to lower costs). The sizing works wells, fit no problem.

I got them with one season already on them to keep the cost down. They aren't the best "snow" tire. They are moreso a cold weather performance tire. Great for noise and ride quality, but I feel they give up easier than snow tires I've used in the past. Luckily I don't live in southern ontario, where winters aren't typically too harsh.

If I had the choice I would have both new, Michelin X-ice 2's or General Articmax's, just for worry-free winter driving.

Just remember one more thing, if you get 16-inchers, you will never be able to put on the TRD big brake kit...

The price of 18-inch snow tires is not that bad. I got X-Ice2s in the OEM size...they worked great this winter!

I'm in the market for winter tires as well this year and though I would revive this thread rather than starting another winter tire thread. Alike the OP, I am also looking to get 16 inch tires and steelies. Right now I am looking at Hankook W409 iPike, either 205/60/16 or 215/60/16. Anyone have any suggestion on which size is preferred on the tc? Also are there specific 16 inch steelies I should look for, in terms of offset and etc. This is my first car and I just want to make sure I do this right and not rely on my tire shop. Any opinion or suggestion is much appreciated!

Thanks
