Is this wheel real?

I recently bought my first scion, I've been looking for wheels all day and found these but I have no idea what they're called (or if they even exist since this looks animated). Anyways I've found similar ones on a different site, but not as good as these. I was just wondering if anyone could help me out.

Also would 18x7.5 be a good size for this type?

P.S. if anyone has any suggestions for wheels feel free, I like the 5-6 spoke wheels mostly.

TheQuietThings 04-05-2013 02:00 AM

enkei rp03

Tabs 04-05-2013 02:21 AM

Thank you! Do you know if they bend easily?

k0ntr0lledka0s 04-05-2013 11:50 AM

Enkei is a good brand name...depending on if you hit a curb or something any wheel will bend, you just have to take care of them.

They look very good! I've been keeping an eye on these also for my white tC. I'm unable to find the black ones 'cause they are limited edition. I think it would look awesome with black RP03 on white.

450$/wheel, they should be good quality. :P

Aluminum wheels will not bend if you hit a curb, they will simply crack/break or shatter. Steel wheels on the other hand will bend and can be bent back into shape.

Same, I'm having a hard time finding them in black..
I want to get 18x7.5 with an offset of 45 with the tire size of 245/45/18
Will that rub while my car is on stock suspension?
Also will it rub after I put a 1.2-1.5 drop on?

18x7.5 is the same size as stock with the stock offset only being +39. In essence the stock would stick out further than the aftermarket you're looking at. I'm running 19x9.5 with a 45 offset and didn't rub at all. But my rims are 2 inches wider than stock... And I'm dropped about 2 inches front and almost 3 in the rear

Enkei makes the wheels for F-1 cars! You tell me...

Where did you get your engineering degree from genius? I'll show you a whole bunch of bent aluminum...in any kind of shape you can imagine...even ones that look like a wheel! I've bent my share of aluminum wheels racing cars.

Aluminum rims tend to break more often than bend, while steel rims are very hard to break/crack and they usually bend.

PS pics or STFU :)

If you've hit something hard enough to break an aluminum wheel, the same impact on a steel wheel will be not straighten-able. If you're hitting stuff hard enough to be breaking aluminum wheels, the problem is not with the aluminum, the problem is with your driving skills.

If you think aluminum is such a $h!tty material...remember that the next time you step inside an airplane...that whole airplane is made from that $h!t. :D

DermalsNmohawks 04-11-2013 05:22 PM

I never said I think it was ____ty

So let me rephrase this for you...next time you see the wing on a airplane flex in turbulance, bring a parachute to jump out because you think they will break before they bend... That sounds like a pretty $h!tty material to me.

Where did you say you got your engineering degree from to be able to make such assessments?

DermalsNmohawks 04-11-2013 06:24 PM

^you realize they use a different grade of aluminum on air planes right?

I think you should re-read all the posts in this thread and show which post I said I have an engineering degree in.

You obviously don't know anything about materials and don't know anything about engineering...and I was just point that fact out! So please, enlighten us...why are you stating false engineering information here?

Do you realize that you can buy aluminum wheels that are made of the same material airplanes are made of? All the F-1 teams do.

DermalsNmohawks 04-11-2013 06:46 PM

...yes I realize that but, most of the aftermarket aluminum wheels out there are ____ and a regular set of steel wheels will be better and way cheaper.

Ps why do you write in bold?

2tCornot2tC 04-11-2013 06:59 PM

You did not state that at first...now you are qualifying your earlier statement. Yes, you buy a cheap a$$ Chinese wheel for $10, it will be made of recycled aluminum...you get what you pay for. :loser:

DermalsNmohawks 04-11-2013 07:44 PM

Most aftermarket aluminum rims are cheap ___ Chinese, in case you didn't know. BTW you would do horrible on the price is right. I don't know of any cheap ___ Chinese rims which cost $10 a piece to buy. They probably cost $10 or less to manufacture.

Dont let 2tcornot2tc bug you, he has made his case in other topics on these forums that he is quite edumacated on everything, and is an expert at everything, and that everyone else is dumber than he is.

DermalsNmohawks 04-11-2013 11:28 PM

Speaking of rims, I want to get trd springs with 19's or keep 18 but was wondering how much harsher the ride is.

2tCornot2tC 04-12-2013 02:27 AM

Good thing that is not "The Price is Right"...I do exaggerate to make a point.

BTW, I'm not your enemy.

All you have to do, is show us all that I'm wrong... I just don't speak up like the rest of you if I don't know something. And there is a big difference between what I think and what I know.

You could share your knowledge without being an ___ and shoving oh I'm an engineer I'm everyone's face I'm always right c'mon man

If you ask, I'll answer politely. If you tell us BS, I'll feed it right back to you. Don't be a jack@$$ and post false information. ASK! Since I am an engineer, I understand significantly more mechanical stuff than most people. If false engineering information is posted, I will question the poster of his engineering background. Again, if you don't know (not think), ask! The false statement made here, is that aluminum breaks before it bends...that is BS!

o TaGGeD o 04-12-2013 05:02 AM

I can see your point but there's gotta be a better approach lol and your right aluminum bends but it's hard to bend I've bad several sets of aluminum rims and never had one bend even with Curb rash

There we go again...would you like to restate your comment in the form of a question before I lay into you on the difficulty of bending aluminum? Again, what you think and what you know...

Just about every piece of aluminum on that airplane example I gave earlier is bent or formed in some way to make the shape it is in...and it is done all over the world...how difficult can it be? Post forming processes make it hard... be specific about the aluminum you are talking about.

2tCornot2tC 04-12-2013 06:04 AM

There is a big difference between tissue paper and construction paper…although both are paper. If you use tissue paper where construction paper needed to be, I think you can figure out your results – same thing about aluminums. Aircraft grade aluminums are significantly different from recycled aluminum. The problem is that most people can tell the difference between tissue paper and construction paper. On the other hand, there are very few people that can tell the difference between aircraft grade aluminum and recycled aluminum. Unscrupulous manufacturers take advantage of this fact. Life is a b!tch when you’re not an engineer, trying to survive in a technical field like automotive or aerospace. Do you begin to picture why all the F-1 teams hire so many engineers?

BTW, the floor pan in my Lotus is made from recycled aluminum…which is fine there…and cheap.

You obviously do not have a filter when it comes to politeness. Let me be very clear, just because someone isn't an engineer doesn't automatically mean that you know more "mechanical stuff" than they do. Please hop off of the high horse and treat people who know less with more respect. I sure as hell dont know as much as I'd like to about cars and I'm a Junior in Electrical Engineering.

This isn't the 2tCornot2tC lecture series, its a forum.

One last thing, maybe try to change your picture from a random ___ girl in fish nets because it just makes you look like a douche.

OK genius...then why didn't you correct this misinformation?

12BlacktC2 04-12-2013 01:38 PM

I think we should just start a sticky where people can argue about how much smarter/dumber they are than others... I hate reading ridiculous statements bashing on someone else... Especially when it goes on and on and has nothing to do with the topic at hand

But hey I'm just a bartender what do I know... Other than the fact that I thoroughly enjoy working on and driving my tC

I always thought that was a cool job...too bad I never got a bar tending license. That was always one of my fascinations. Maybe still...one of these days...

Hey! I'm not bashing other professions. Do you pretend to be an engineer? How do you feel when a shoe salesman tells you how to mix drinks? I bet you just think to yourself...what an @$$ hole! Well, that is what I come right out and say to anybody that makes wrong engineering calls...that have no business making such statements.
