Don't trust the lower radiator core support strength. It is flimsy. I'm building a whole steel tube subframe for my car to solve that problem lol

the radiator support has no load bearing (according to my floor jack test. most weight is supported by subframe.
when using 1/4 inch aluminium plate there isnt much give anyways. besides I'm not going to use it rock crawling ;-}
thanks for the tip though, always appreciate a valid input ...
P.S it is 05 scion xA ...

It will definitely help save your transmission pan when you nose-dive into a dip. But you'll probably ruin your skid plate. That's what it's for, right!

I have already put two nasty gauges in both oil pans while exploring Pacific Northwest trails couple months ago.
I doesn't seem to bottom out on streets, so no worries there!
On a trail there is a huge difference between punctured pan, no oil in slush box or worse loss of oil in the engine and getting home tired but happy after a day trail blazing!

P.S
Same applies to brake/fuel lines and steering hoses which are completely covered by rear part of the front skid plate...

Yeah I don't do any off roading so I should be ok. Sounds like a good idea.

From what I can tell by looking at what they make, its just a dust shield not a skid plate. It appears to look thinner than 1/8 of an inch! What will it protect ?
I can lift front end on the skid plate I put in with little deflection of it.
And the beauty of it was, it only cost me a mere $75 + some fabrication time...(free of charge for me from me)
Not that it will completely protect oil pans, but it presents a chance of survival if
struck by something larger than a random parking lot pebble.

Cheers
