Default 2006 xA Factory Installed Aux Jack Repair

Hey, ScionLife!

Been lurking for a while (Thanks for the post on replacing the side mirror. Stupid baltimore drivers.), but now I have a question I have not been able to search my way to enlightenment for.

My aux jack has recently been shorting out during use. I lose the entire left channel and no amount of wiggling the cable or holding in a certain position will help. Yes, I also tried a brand-new mini-jack cable. This brings back childhood trauma of bad experiences with off-brand Walkmen.

I was hoping I could just get access to the jack and re-solder the contacts or replace it, but I have no idea how to remove the housing around it. I was thinking of subscribing to Chilton's for a month to see if they had instructions, but I am a cheap bastard that believes strongly in the Wisdom of the Forum.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

- Alan

you have to remove the center console to get to it... remove the shift **** and there is a screw in the back cup holder and the front is held on with clips...

Thanks for the reply! I did see that screw in the rear cup holder. So if I remove that, I assume the center console will then lift from the back to the front which will disengage the clips or something like that? This doesn't sound too bad...
