Default Cross-Country Trip

Anybody drive one of these lil' beasts across the US or any significant road trip?
how did your XA do? Any tips? I'm going from Virginia to Alaska...need any and all advice! I know it will be a bit bumpy but I'm looking forward to taking my baby (2006 XA) on the road.

I drove my xA from Milwaukee to San Diego a year ago and had no problems at all. I do remember going up the Rockies in 4th gear pretty much the entire time, but even loaded up with most of my belongings I was able to keep up with traffic. The seats aren't bad for long term drives, but then again you are going 4000 miles in one trip!!! I'd say take it easy, get an oil change right before you leave and right when you get there, make sure your car's tuned up and just have fun!

I have driven 1000 miles in one day a few times, the car is solid and ready for road trips.

Yea - that sounds great. I actually thought of getting the oil changed right before I left, then in Portland, OR. I'm stopping there to crash with a friend for a few days...So, I got that covered. Thanks for the info. Please keep the comments coming.

Fully loaded long trips are no problem for the xA.

Have been surprised on just how well it performs.

The seats are great for long trips. I know its not that far, but I drove from Orlando to ATL for scion exposed. Thats an 8 hour drive, and the tC peopel and xB people were feeling their seats before I was. Being the only xA the only problem was I had to fill up more times than they did. but it was good.

I'm also planning a drive from California to Kluane/Haines Alaska
through Jasper/Banff, in my xA. I was thinking of making
a bug screen, so that bugs won't clog the radiator. Has anyone
made a DIY bug screen. Would painter's tape work by
taping across the hood and under the front bumper?
Do good gasoline with detergent (Top Tier) in Canada?

My husband drove from Washington to Mississippi and then we drove back.. all within a month's time.. no problems whatsoever, just proper oil changes is all.

Boston to Orlando twice. Only problem was an electrical bug that was preexisting prior to the second MA-FL trek.

I drove from FL to ID, towing a motorcycle with my xA. We had 1200 lbs. of extra weight, not counting me, my wife, and baby.

Going up some of the mountains was a challenge. You will do fine.... especially if you are not towing anything.

This car has been from Groton, CT to Los Angeles and then up to Seattle in a little over a week. The only crappy part was that there was no cruise control

We went from SC to PA for a weekend trip. I would also recommend rotating the tires and getting an alignment if you want the best mileage. I'm sure she'll do great, but don't forget some cash in case you have toll roads!

Never had a problem with any road trips in the xA, my only problem for me is that I am 6'3 so the comfort wasnt the greastest.
