Default Delay when gas is pressed

I just bought a used 2005 Scion XA, and have had it for about a month. Last week it started to have an issue while Im driving, sometimes at low speeds (mostly in parking lots) when I press the gas pedal there is a second or two delay before the it gets moving. It will just rev for a second, and then start moving. Anyone know what this is? Someone told me maybe the transmission fluid is low, could that be it? The belts have been squealing and Im going to have them replaced as soon as I can, could a worn down belt be causing this?

Automatic or manual?

If it's manual your clutch is slipping. If it's automatic, that's just a slow shiitty car accelerating. That's what they do. It's called zero power with electronic throttle control. Super delayed. Sounds normal to me man.

I'm still going with "it's a step up from an RC car" and that's why.
