WOW! I guess xA people don't really drive that much. I am sitting at 24,000 on a 2008 xB got the car 5 months ago
and have been to nine states with it so far. I plan on being at 80,000 by it's first birthday! ____ |
hey all
If you have a Scion xA I am getting 42mpg city and 46mpg highway. There are a couple of ways to do that if you all would like to know it's a K&N air filter for the regular Intake
and expensive spark plugs NGKs with cables and oil change and air pressure with all of that I get some good miles. __________________ |

42mpg city and 46mpg high way? hmmmmm do you have a scangauge photo to help us believe this? Not trying to insult you but that MPG does not seem possible. Also there is a thread here on xA MPG. Might want to post this there, but post how many miles you have now on your xA. That is the topic here. |
Update:
History captured today by the minute on a DSLR :) https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...o/_mg_6075.jpg https://i181.photobucket.com/albums/...o/_mg_6077.jpg |
Ive got just over 20000, on my 2006. Had it about 1.5 years now. Loving every minute of it.

Re: 41mpg!!!!!!
I just took mines to the shop for the 20k miles service. I managed to reduce the fuel economy to around 30 with a strup muffler and weapon r header, however its much more fun to drive and feels like a real car vs a toytop that you need to wind up first before it moves. I am going to try the oem muffler and see how that effects the economy and power with the weapon r header. I maybe putting it back stock for the fuel economy.
Here is the fan video. Funny thing is, the muffler made the ac cooler still. Guessing less back pressure in the pipes and less heat on the other side of the fire wall and floor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPcaGu70DS0

Turned 138k on the '05 this past weekend! Still running great...normal maintenance on it. Nothing else except P/S belt. Lots of hwy miles since we take it to bike races everywhere and still averaging 30mpg with the bike rack on top.
|
Wow! Great to hear. Ive been racking up the miles driving out totake care of my parents and working. Mostly highway miles at that. I have returned to my older driving habits and got last tank fuel economy of 39mpg. So much for short shifting and driving it like a real car vs dragging it out to 3 grand before shifting.

so has anyone changed there fluids tranny and fuel injection cleaning type stuff. because i am at 45 on my 06' and just wondering if i should change any of those yet or allready have done so.. also i need help with my gas i am averaging 34 mpg used to average 40-42mpg and not sure if thats because i need to change spark plug wires redo the oil or inflate tires or so on....
|
Good question. Ive seen the shell commericlal and how 5000k miles can cause all this gunk build up on parts, yet is that true.
I use to drive some chyttie cars and a good bottle or 2 of injector cleaner made the car run and start better. I havent put anything in my car, however I use gas from wawa, hess, wilcox in my car. |
I think I'm near... 70800ish. Nothing but oil changes :lalala:
|
i guess for now i will just keep an eye on how i am driving and how everything is going and go from there and yeah it does cause gunk on other parts but yet its not the tran fluid because that is incased in and sealed in the tranny

Also, I was wrong. In addition to oil changes, I changed brakes some time after 60k... |
I do plugs every 20k, tranny oil every 20k, a bottle of Chevron Techron every 10k, and oil every 5k. That's all I've ever done.
I changed brakes at 35k, but I still had at least 15k miles left on the stock pads. I might throw them back on once I wear through the Axxis pads I bought. |
I'm up to 34.6K on my '06 xA, I've had it for two years.
|
45 in about 30 miles and not looking back maybe i should do my plug wires
|
I drive my car like crazy I have only had if for like 1.2 years and have like 25k miles on it which is double the average person spends in the car.
|
2 yrs and 5months 45 on track trying not to get a job that is 25 miles away that would kill my mileage but atleast at the job now is moving 5 miles closer good thing to
|
40k in 18 mos. avg 38mpg. only normal maint so far. waiting on frt brakes to go so i can get the TRD pads.
