I ran over something on the highway, need advice
 

I was going down the highway and ran over something, when I pulled over to see what happened I noticed I was leaking fluid. It was a night but looked like a dark red so I am thinking transmission fluid. When I got back in my car it would barely move, I also could not put it in park. Any suggestions on what to check?
