Default Original alarm malfunctioning on my '04 xA

Last night at 3AM the xA's OEM alarm went off for no reason (at least none that was visible, there was no rain or wind, and my dog would bark if anything was within 20 feet of the car...so I'm thinking malfunction) so I locked the doors with the key (but that apparently also turns on the alarm?) went back to bed and twenty minutes later it went off again. I can't believe I can't lock the car without turning on the alarm and I have been searching this forum for anyone with a similar problem but no luck so I am posting this question: Is there a way to reset the alarm hardware (where is it btw???) or is there some other 'trick' to resetting it and/or at least how can I lock my doors until I figure out the alarm problem?

THANKS!!!

You need to use the fob to unloc, then manually lock them for now. Not sure why you are having problems or how to turn off alarm and keep the rke feature.

Yeah, I turned off the alarm with the fob, then manually locked the doors with the key. This seems to have turned the alarm back on because it started wailing a little bit later. On my other cars the key doesn't turn on the alarm, so I thought that was weird.

Huh? Mines only arms if I push the botton or after I remove the key from the ignition and open/close a door.
