Default Remote key fob

Hi, I have a 2005 Scion Xa and the remote key fob is no longer working. I was wondering does anyone know how much the dealer charges for another remote key fob and do they sell used ones. I was also looking on ebay and there are used ones for approximately $30 but a lot of them say that they will only work with the following:
FITS: 2004-2007 XA or XB MODELS WITH optional dealer-installed VIP or RS3200 security system. You must have this system on your vehicle. If you have the factory system, this remote will not work.

Do scion xa's come with factory alarm system or are they all optional? If I buy one of these ebay ones how easy is it to program?

I would appreciate any help with this... Thanks

Maybe the battery is dead? Alarms are not factory, they are optional. And above that, every dealership uses a different alarm. If you buy a new ebay fab, just bring it to the dealer. It will take them no time, otherwise you are going to be jacking with it for hours through an extensive session of opening and closing doors and whatnot.

Thank you for the response. I was wondering about the opening and closing of doors really doesn't seem that I would enjoy going through that Long story short ... i know the remote is broken because I took it apart to see what was wrong and the unlock node dislodged. I glued it back on and it was working for awhile but then it dislodge again. I figure it would be better just to get another one than to deal with that issue on a constant basis.

Thanks again.

Oh yeah, does the dealer charge to program it?

Yeah I know But I don't like dealing with dealers and if I can get an idea first from other people's experiences then I know what I'm dealing with before I deal with a dealer... (prices, run arounds..etc.) I bought the car used private sale..
