RS 1 xa for sale dealer on crack

I don't think any one would pay this much

www.Autotrader.com xA RS1

Monkeyideas 11-09-2006 06:20 PM

a lot cheaper to buy a new one. isn't the rs3.0 a bit less expensive?

archangel 11-09-2006 06:50 PM

I believe so, and you would have a brand new car, I know the resale value on scions is high, but they depreciate like any other car. This dealer is smokin.

thegermangemini 11-09-2006 07:02 PM

WTF??? Does it fly?

ADRdesignCo 11-09-2006 07:04 PM

iono my friend just got a USED bsp (im not too shure what the xA name is) but she said she paid 20k+, so i guess its not too bad.. darn supply and demand. lol

Monkeyideas 11-09-2006 08:29 PM

before i bought my xA rs 2.0, for roughly the kbb price, the seller told me, I could buy it that day or buy it two days later at a nearby dealer for $2K more. At the time, I thought it was his tactic not to waiver on the price but it looks like the seller was being upfront with me.

archangel 11-09-2006 08:33 PM

whats the KBB for an RS1?

archangel 11-09-2006 08:33 PM

whats the KBB for an RS1? I can't imagine its 17

Monkeyideas 11-09-2006 09:00 PM

here's the link http://www.kbb.com/KBB/Selection/Equipment.aspx. No mention of a moon roof and the price i put in is for dealer sale. that dealer is not on crack, he's just plain greedy.

bBlover 11-09-2006 09:09 PM

That sounds about right for a RS xA.

kenr74 11-09-2006 09:23 PM

Dealers mark them way up in hopes that some sucker will come along. Then they can drop the price a couple thousand and the buyer will think they are getting a good deal. I bought a car once for half of the "asking" price and it was still only an ok deal.

xSTANDxSTRONGx 11-09-2006 09:43 PM

can't click the link (comp fault) what is the price?

No, but it has an interior hood release, that's gotta count for something, huh?

Another reason this one is so expensive is because of the fact that it is used. Since this particular car no longer falls in the Pure Price program from Scion the dealer can sell it for whatever they want. Honestly I think the dealer could sell that car for $18K considering how rare it is.

I have edited the original post so the link doesn't take up so much space on the webpage. Still works the same.

Kelly blue book list suggested retail of $14,845 and trade in value of $11,700. Since nobody pays sticker price on a used vehicle the price in the ad is probably a reasonable starting place in the dealers mind to work down to kbb. Also if you look at the same vehicle without RS1 package kbb list suggested retail of $13,780 which is only about $1,000 dollar difference which doesn't really seem reasonable since the RS is so rare compared to a non RS. So I don't think the dealer is on crack or thinks the car can fly, just setting a reasonable starting price for negotiation. If you were trading in your RS1 XA what would you expect to get for trade in?

Yes but the RS1.0 comes with 17" wheels, moonroof, body kit, TRAC/VSC and is limited to 1550 units. Obviously the BEST RS of them all.

Of course I'm a bit bias! :D However, $17K is ridiculous. The Scion dealer near me had an RS1.0 xA for $13K with the same milage.

Monkeyideas 11-10-2006 08:41 PM

out of curiosity, I have a rs 2.0 and the one thing I would really like to have is the moon roof. Anyone have any idea if its worth installing and how much it would cost. I know the dealers are charging something like $1500 just for the kit and not sure if it includes labor.

Inky 11-11-2006 01:02 AM

That's crazy. Hope no one is foolish enough to buy it.

kdepew 11-11-2006 03:03 AM

If you ever pay the dealer's asking price on a used car, you are a total sucker. The RS1 being rare isn't going to make that much difference. The xA isn't a collector's item or anything. It may be a great car, but right now (and probably always), it isn't anything special that would drive up its value.

Someone mentioned their friend payed $20k for a used xA. If that is true, you need to get help for your friend so they don't get taken advantage of their whole life.
