Default Scion xA -- Check Your Bumper and Doors... (____ED OFF)

I recently posted a thread about my bumper and right rear passenger door not fitting flush with the car... Well, I creeped up on two different xAs and the first one had the same exact problems as mine... the second one had the non-flush door, but his bumper was perfect... So maybe my problems aren't really problems, but just the way that they were built...?

Here's what you're looking for...

Right side of my rear bumper does not fit flush... it bends out slightly where it wraps around the the car.

The door on the right passenger side does not fit flush... the door area is, but where the window begins, it sticks out. It's raised by about 1/8th of an inch, but is visible noticeable. The driver's side rear door is perfect.

Here is my opinion about the doors bumpers go them fixed. Doors unless you plan on showing it I wouldn't fix them and the reason is because of weather stripping say that is how the car was built the car sits in the heat and the weather stripping fits to the door. So no wind noies, but the moment you get the door fixed you will get major wind noies and eventually the weather stripping will mold again just not like before. Keep it in mind.

Okay, I'm at the dealership getting the problems looked at. I'm feeling really uneasy... Sick, actually. 2 service guys have already tried to "fix" the bumper by smashing it in hard with their palms. My bumper is probably scratched now. And one left the greasiest fingerprint on my door, steering wheel and radio ****...

Quick update...

Walked around their New Inventory lot and saw a brand spankin' new xA... same thing! Right bumper corner sticks out where it wraps around the car... and this time, BOTH doors aren't flush.

Sigh, compared to the new Hyundai Accent hatchback I looked at yesterday... the xA's build quality plain sucks.

I'm guessing I should tell them to ignore the door... since this seems to be normal. Don't want them to ruin my car! I glimpsed inside the service area and I saw them twisting and pushing my bumper...

FAWK.

Okay, they're not touching the doors because the other xA has both doors that are imperfect (this makes little sense, since only one of my doors are fawked).

And, for some reason, they're incapable of fixing my bumper (the gap has widened considerably and contorted), so they're sending me to the body shop down the road...

Just left the body shop and am now back at the dealer... the body shop guy said that the misaligned and loose bumper is normal and designed that way so that it falls off easily in a collision (WTF), so nothing can be done even though the service guy said that it IS a problem and that it CAN be fixed.

On top of that, they put a 1/4" half moon shaped scratch on the wheel arch, but it's not on the bumper, but on the body panel next to it. It's not very deep, but it's noticeable. Furthermore, the service guy/body shop kept slamming their palms against the bumper and this caused major flexing that caused a stress crack to appear on the bumper. It's not a scratch... looks like a stretchmark (imagine bubbling underneath)... it's about 1/4" in length and isn't very obvious, but in certain light, it stands out big time. Especially since the rest of my car is FLAWLESS. This cannot be buffed out or fixed with a clay bar or scratch remover.

I'm ____ED OFF. I'm waiting to speak with the service manager.

What should I do? Call Scion?

You're not the only one. Consumer Reports rated the xA with almost all excellent marks, but body integrity got a terrible score.

I picked up my car last night, and made sure to check all of that. It's perfect on mine, you could roll a marble along the seams.

You're lucky, man. Every xA I've seen now has either one of both of my problems... This sucks, and now my bumper has a stress crack, a scratch on the wheel arch and a bumper that is misaligned on BOTH sides now.

STILL waiting for service manager. Apparently, he took off somewhere.
