Disconnect your battery for a few minutes. If that doesn't do anything, play with the reset/trip button by pushing it and holding it in and seeing if you can get to some sort of other screen in there.

I forgot to mention before, I would never accept an answer like that from the dealership. If you haven't done anything aftermarket with your cluster or anything like that, then that is plain ridiculous. I would never take an answer like that. They are the specialists. If they can't research and dig deeper into it, then how is Joe's Automotive or Oscar's Oil and Lube going to help you out, I mean come on...

Did they tell you how they tried to diagnosis the problem?
Where do you live and where/who is this dealer?
Did you purchase your car from the Scion dealer mentioned or someone else?
Did you buy it new or used?
How many miles/years on the car since bought?

Does not sound like a reputable Scion dealer.

My wife has a 2005 xA.. Don't recall ever seeing that problem blog or hear about this on this Main Scion site. Alot of xA owners don't visit this site as in the past. So you may not get an answer.
So your saying a service dept guy went for a drive with you. Remember, he is not a certified repair person + just like customer service does the write up for the needed repair to give to the certified tech who will review the problem to be corrected.
Service dept guy is giving you a guess on how long it will take to find your problem, they won't know until they actually start the diagnostics. Who knows if it could only take the tech 30 minutes, but they gotta give you the worse scenario, so you know.
Did you at least try the simple test like:
1. Disconnecting your battery for like 5 minutes.
2. Try to manually reset the dash maintenance engine light, by pressing the trip odometer **** + set the trip meter to 'A' + turn ignition off - then hold down trip meter button with ignition off + turn key to on while holding the button down for 5 seconds - the light will flash a few times and then turn off. It is then reset.
3.Or maybe put in a new fuse.
Hope everything turns out fine with the dealer. But, keep us updated on the fix, so we will know what to look for to correct..
Peace out......

I had to replace the whole dashboard, and know works fine, but i did it myself since the dealer were charging me $500 to do it, while i did it only for $50, now i have a new problem, it shows 1152 miles, and i have 112,000 miles, any body knows how to get it right without taking it to the bloodsucking dealer?

You didn't replace the dashboard, you replaced the cluster. And where the heck did they find you a basically brand new cluster?! Did someone really total their brand new xA back in who knows what year?! Anyways, no, there isn't a way to fix it, just make sure you aren't on "trip". Sorry, had to say it just in case, but if that is your odometer, no there isn't a way to fix it. You'll more than likely never be able to sell it to any dealer now or trade it in either because of the "roll back", is what they call it, in miles. Oh well, at least it's fixed and doesn't say zero.
