Default 06 xA No Power on hills, Exhaust intact but sounds rumbly

My 06 xA loses power badly on hills sometimes. Last night it came almost to a stop until I put it in L and floored it. The garage can't reproduce the problem.

The exhaust note is different; at first I thought broken exhaust, but garage says it's intact.

Anyone seen this?

Garage thinks maybe a baffle is broken in the muffler, but I haven't heard a rattle.

Can the muffler somehow be checked, with an inspection scope or a stethoscope?

Any help greatly appreciated...

A plugged catalytic converter is a possibility. How many miles on it?

It has 106k. The shop seems to have been right - replaced the muffler and they cut open the old one, and indeed the baffle was broken loose. I'm hoping that's the end of the story. Thanks much for your reply!
