Question 1st gen xb ckp issue swappd 2 still have problem..

06 xb ckp code came up car runs, but bucks when im driving at higher speeds. And def after it is warmed up. No misfire count. Swappd the ckp sensor with one out of another runnning motor same prob. Bought a new one .. still the same prob. Did a wire trace and cl all the way to pcm. No corosion no open or frayed wiring. Even ohmd it..... so after all thst i went searchin and what i came up with is either a. The ckp sensor plate or the tooth gear has a crack which alldata says replace crankshaft.. (engine)... Anyone ran into this problem?? 160,ooo mi im soon to break it down to see this plate situation. Please lmk if anyone have any insight on this. Thanx

Did you put the original sensor out of your car into the running car and see if the problem moved?
What other tests have you done on the engine and fuel system?

It was an running engine out of another scion. Not in vehicle no more. As far as other tests. Nothing else as of yet. My next is fuel psi and pull the fuel filter. Only reason i didnt do it yet because of the specific ckp code that i have and the driveability issue im having. Now it has 160 and dont kno the last time the pump and filter was changed. Im trying to make sure that the ckp sensor plate is or is not the issue.

There is this sticky about the crank position sensor, but I don't think it will help in your situation

I suppose you could take the sensor out and look into the hole while slowly turning the crank shaft by hand?? Not sure how much you could see though.

are you getting any excessive engine rattle? that sounds like vvt noise? or slight chain noise?
im asking as my wife bought her yaris NEW, complained about rattles to the dealer for MANY years untill it wasnt under warranty, with alot of the stupidest reasons for the noise
ffast forward to earlier this year
i was blowing crank pots and couldnt figure out why, one might last a day one might last weeks, but i could swap an old one back in and maybe get another week out of it...there was no sense of it..untilli pulled one out covered in shavings?!?!?!?

it seems the FACTORY failed to lock down the timing guides, and slowly but eventually all 4 bolts eventually backed out.1 by 1 by 1.. and one of the bolts had been kicking up onto the sensor and smacking the crank....ill happily post the carnage pics..and yes its the same 1.5 in these xb's only real change is the drive by wire TB

fwiw the chain STILL has its stretch indicator marks on it...but is a full link longer, the crank damage is WILD at the crank pot but since a full timing swap ive been trouble free for 4 months or so and about 8000 miles...the amount of metal i flushed from the engine is wild....120k miles on it too
