My friends xB just died. he said as he was driving, his dash lit up and then the engine quit and whole car shutdown. We tried jumping it but that didn't work. The key turns and the dash lights up, all the lights work but the engine won't turn over. I don't think its the starter judging by how he said it quit on him. Any suggestions is much appreciated.

try resetting the ECU... either disconnect the battery or pull the fuse for the ECU for a couple minutes and put it back...

could also be a loose ground connection on the battery (happened to me)
