2nd transaxle replacement after 60k!?!?
Long story short: '05 XB automatic. I'm having my transaxle replaced for the second time after only 60k. What the hell is up with this? What would cause such a thing to happen? I drive like a gramma. No rough stuff.
What are my rights? I don't want a car that burns up transaxles every 30k. I don't want to pawn it off on someone else. Will Scion do anything for me? |
Bueller? Bueller?

Extended warranty?
I haven't heard of anyone burning up transaxles unless they were tearing up their car. Specifically WHAT is being done? Is it the same exact repair as before? |
Wheel bearings and transaxle are being replaced. Once at 25k and now, again at 60k. But, no one can or will come up with the cause. I put a call in to toyota customer care, this morning. They've assigned me a case manager who's supposed to get back with me in one business day.

are you towing an Airstream? that's crazy, haven't heard of anyone needing one replaced yet, let alone 2! Good luck with that though.

how do you drive your car? rough roads? etc.
|
What does it feel like when they break? Does it grind when you ride the gear?
|
I drive like an old lady. My family makes fun of me because I'm cautious. I don't haul anything.
Nothing actually breaks. The front end just doesn't ever feel right. And, when things begin to deteriorate it starts to make grinding noises on trns, then grinding while coming to a stop. And eventually grinding all the time. At highway speeds there's different sounds. whirring and minor but, very noticable, vibration. I'm beginning to think that the front axle is bent. Still waiting to hear from my case manager. Guess he'll call on Monday. |
