There are speed sensors in the wheels to control the ABS that is how it figures out when a wheel is slipping or skidding. There is also a sensor in the transmission and according to the scan code lookup . . .
P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Circuit Malfunction
Something is not working so check for wires that connect to the transmission and I would guess that they would be on the top somewhere under the air box . . . of course where you can't see them easily. You should search for the location online so you know where to look.

Yea, I suppose. If that's whats wrong. I was hoping it was a wire for the VSS not connected fully or something.

I called the dealer to look up the Vehicle speed sensor. He says it's called " transmission revolution sensor" or revolution speed sensor. It's 150$ ish.

He's going to print out a diagram where it's located. I'm going to go pick it up. But i don't see that being much help unless I replace the sensor and see if that takes care of it.

It's on top of the transmission, but I'm not sure if thats exactly the problem or not?

Next thing to do is to shop around for it and try to get a lower price. Junk yard would be a possibility since they are not something that is supposed to wear out so a new one or a used one should still work the same.

I went and ordered one from the dealer. I got employee discount price of 85$

It'll be here Friday. Ugh, but right now the car is getting aligned. The place I get it aligned is less than a mile fr om my house and car drives fine under 20mph, but otherwise it doesn't do highway.

Car is finished being aligned. I'm in a better mood, i've been dreading having to get it done again. But the guy that aligns my car is the only person I'd trust near my car, much less doing any work on it. I gave him 20$ tip because he does it right and is very careful!

The part will be in Friday morning.

Okay, thtats exactly what I need to know. hopefully maybe something is unhooked or whatever? autozone/napa didn't have a speed sensor. I don't know why it'd go bad. Wonder where the speed sensor is exactly?
and it only took me posting it three times!!!!!!!1

I had read somewhere that it affects alot of things. It won't let the cooling fan kick on and other random things. I don't know what the heck has happened to my car as it sat in the garage. Oh well, I'll get it worked out.

Haha, this was awesome. Look at all those exclamation marks. Were you beating on the keyboard when you typed that?

Yeah I would not be surprised if the A/C would not work with a malfunction like that - it relates to the engine check light and extra load on the engine would probably by avoided automatically thus no A/C.
