Default Best Value? Short ram intake

I was looking at short ram intakes for my Xb. Ebay has fujita for around $130 then there are these unlisted brands, which have the same parts and appear to have identical fabrication for $25. How do you know what is reputable and what will work. It seems too good to be true. If someone with knowledge in this area could or has searched "xb short intake" on ebay could let me know, it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

As far as I am concerened the Injen is the best short ram intake... There is a clone of the Injen, called YDR. The YDR is half the price of the Injen and is the exact same.. The YDR is sold in the Sponsored Sales Forum for $85 shipped.. I have seen people buy intakes that look like the Injen and YDR on Ebay for $40 or $50 and have had good luck with them.. So you choose, what you think is best.. I have a YDR now and had an Injen before.. exact same gains..but saved some money the second time around.

I did a lot of shopping last year when looking for an intake for the wife's xB. In my opinion the ONLY intake I would spend money on is the Fujita short ram. The CAI for the xB are a waste of money in my opinion. And the short ram designs from most other companies (Injen, YDR) are inferior. The location of the breather hose makes all the difference in the world to me.

Also before you go purchasing an intake on ebay, watch for tax and shipping prices. If Ptuning.com has it in stock, the Fujita short ram is just over $150 shipped with the "ptscionlife" discount code. They are a site sponsor and great to deal with.

Now I wont lie Dustin.. I wish everybody had there breather hoses after the MAF.. but my MAF has been thru hell and back.. it has had oil shot straight at it and I never had it foul or go bad.. let alone the little bit of oil that comes thru the breather hose from the valve cover.. and a quick fix for the hose is an oil catch can.

Glad to hear you have good luck with yours. And I am not completely knocking the other designs. But there are just some times when you are willing to pay a little extra for peace of mind. And when it is one of the first modifications to your wife's very first modified car, you take the extra precautions.

I have been so happy with the intake that I will likely buy one for my '06 if and when I ever get it. Barring any sort of exploration into the forced induction arena. And other than price, there is nothing else to stop you on an '06. You are illegal with an intake in the state of California. If you are going to break the law, it might as well be worth it.

Thanks all for the advice, though I may be more uncertain now. Anyone have insight on the BOMZ short ram specifically? I found it for $40 dollars, but I do not know much about the brand.

Still couldnt get a hold of YRD, so a little searching on eBay turned up the same design, but different tube color and filter options... $19.99 for the intake, $19.99 to ship it.

Yes, but the YDR ( I have 2 of them) comes with a genuine K&N filter, which is a big chunk of the cost. It's a quality product, basically a 100% knockoff of the Injen.

True. If you're paying other then cost for the K&N's it would make a difference I guess, but being as YRD has been MIA for all my PMs/Posts, I went elsewhere.

chris03hd - In his defense, the YDR seller has been on vacation out of the country the last few weeks. He emailed me when I bought my last one a month ago saying that shipping would be delayed. Said he'd get it out around Thanksgiving, which he did. If ever you're in the market for a second short-ram, give YDR another shot. ;}

when i bought my injen, there were only 3 on the market, AEM, Injen, I believe the other was GReddy, but i love my injen, i may go to the Fujita if i ever sell this one, cause they are very similar in gains and quality

I'm trying to find a YDR short ram and am also having troubles. I can get it less than a month. I hope the seller gets back on the boards by the time I need one.
