HELP: Vsc, Trac cont., Engine check----

ok lights came on and the car started backfiring or sputtering at around 3500 rpm's

i hit the gas hard and since it was raining the wheels spun and traction control went on and then right after everything lit up car drives fine under 3500 rpm's

i just had headers installed and i need a new exhaust manifold gasket because they are leaking a little bit.

please help

i reset the ecu by taking out the EF fuse i believe, didnt work, havent had a chance to disconnect the batt. ill try it in the morning

the last thing i will do is go back to the dealer, they knw what they are doing but cost me a fortune. i just got my ecu, MAF sensor and neutral safety switch replaced. the math on that adds up to lots of $$$$

im thinking its the o2 sensors. the sound the car is making reminds me of a WOT box on a car, revs up and hits 3500 RPM's and starts going bah BAH BAH BAH BAH . and the idle is rough

colinMAC1410 05-19-2010 03:17 AM

just looked around im almost 100% positive my car is limp mode, now the question is, how do i fix it?

i have my new gasket.....

now what?

ajcadoo 05-19-2010 04:29 AM

colin, chances are you have a bad MAF sensor. Clean out that MAF sensor and see if that helps. If not, get them codes. When I cleaned my MAF, it didnt work so I had to buy a new one. That solved the problem for me when it happened.

P0101

MAF sensor / VAF ?

i just had it replaced within the year

colinMAC1410 05-20-2010 12:01 AM

Oiled, I know the oil can cover the sensor I cleaned it and still didn't work, brought it to a local shop and they will let me know tomorro

ajcadoo 05-20-2010 03:34 AM

Yeah, probably a bad MAF. They are super stubborn and dont clean easily. Sucks that you have replaced it within the year. Let us know what happens.

colinMAC1410 05-23-2010 05:04 AM

turns out it was the o2 sensors they replaced back in march 2009?

they told me MAF, but anyway my MAF sensor was bad. it was reading about 158 grams per second....when my car was OFF, 70-80 at idle

normal is like 7.5 at idle, like 1 when the car is off.

but its fixed and i am DONE with performance crap on this car, exterior and interior here i come

ajcadoo 05-23-2010 05:20 AM

but performance is where its at! theres really only 3 easy mods for performance: header, intake, exhaust. thanks for the info!

colinMAC1410 05-23-2010 12:43 PM

check, check, and CHECK lol throwin in the towel.

but thanks guys! ^^^ this is the reason why this site is the bomb

ppl actually know what there talking about and respond quick

on to the Fiberglass enclosure in the trunk!

ajcadoo 05-23-2010 07:06 PM

lol, then i give approval to move on! haha, how bout suspension though? oo, id like to see ur enclosure when ur done!

I'm so glad that such a small percentage of xB owners have problems, and if they do, someone is always there to help.

My ABS/TCS/VSC come on often but it doesn't affect performance at all.
