Default MAF woes

Hey everyone!
This is my first post. I've run into a conundrum.
2004 xA
1.5L 1497cc GAS MFI type 1NZFE.
Friends daughter was running several times without a gas cap and of course throwing trouble codes.
Replaced cap, smoked the car and found a major leak around the VVT solenoid by the front (pass side) of the engine.

Initially, this is what we got:
P0101: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem
P0102: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0113: Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0442: Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)
P0446: Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit

After fixing the leak we found that the long term trim was of the charts (~40%) but everything else seemed fine.
Checked fuel pressure and it was about nothing.
Assumed the pump got knackered, compensating.
Replaced fuel pump and MAF with a cheapo off eBay.
No joy.
It WILL start now, but dies out after about 20-30 seconds.
So, replaced MAF with genuine Denso.
No joy.
This is what I'm getting now:
P0102 MAF circuit low input (current)
P0103 Intake air temp circuit high (current)
P0101 MAF or volume circuit range/performance problem (pending)

Getting the MAF code makes me wonder if there's a harness issue, but the performance doesn't change with it connected or not.
It's got to be a fuel issue somewhere b/c it runs just fine when shooting it with starting fluid.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance, I hope to be able to give back to the forum in the future!

I'll also add that, before changing the fuel pump, it wouldn't start at all.
Now, it starts, but dies quickly after.
I may try blowing the lines out, tomorrow.

Ever get this sorted out? Having very similar symptoms with my 06 xB with codes 101, 102, & 113. This all started a couple weeks ago when I was doing some tune up work; replaced primary O2 sensor (was original with 280k on it and my mileage has been down in the dumps lately so I figured what the hell), new plugs, changed air filter, cleaned MAF with MAF cleaner like I've always done from time to time, and also used Seafoam in the intake for the first time. Next day on my way to work I had to turn around because it was running like hell (started and idled fine but was having a hard time accelerating) so I took my truck instead. Hooked up my ODB II reader and was getting one MAF related code so I figured I fried the maf cleaning it or something so I went to a pick your own parts place and grabbed a MAF off of a Yaris (hate throwing new parts at something when I'm not 100% sure that it will fix the issue). Plopped it in and still the same crap. Poked around for a little bit and took the intake/air box apart (even though I sprayed intake cleaner all around looking for leaks) just to be thorough and then everything seemed to work right again so I drove it for a week without incident until today. Drove it this morning in the pouring rain and go a few miles from work and it's screwing up once again. Same with the ride home in the rain. I'm starting to think I have some sort of electrical issue in my harness especially close to the air box since moving it all around to change the air filter seemed to set this BS off. Anyone around here come across gremlins in the wiring with these first Gen xBs/xAs? I know the second generation xBs had a wiring issue recall or something which affects the MAF, but couldn't find anything related to older Scions in this forum or anywhere else on the web for that matter. Doubt I'll hear anything back from this OP since they're probably long gone, but I appreciate any other suggestions from anyone else around here.
