How does the power compare to the power increase of an intake? Also, is this CARB legal?
EDIT: Also, how should I ask the local shop about this? I don't want to walk in and look like an idiot. Please advise.

I am going with the Strup ehxaust (about $275 + free shipping, just search online) and i got and Injen knockoff short air ram intake on ebay for $30. I haven't had the exhaust installed yet, but I can tell you the intake does add jump to the engine. And it is an easy install. Just follow the TECH article on here. I did mine in 45 min.

TPR magazine dyno'd intakes and exhausts for our engines. The biggest gain was with an intake netting about 8hp and 9 ft/lbs torque.
All the axle back exhausts they tested netted only 1-2 hp. The only exhaust that made a bit more power was a cat-back but even they said it was pretty obnoxious and not worth it.
Next issue they will show test results of headers.
Bottom line: Intake is propably the best bang for the buck. Exhaust is more style than power.

I just installed my Strup Axel-back exhaust. I am not sure if it is because of my short air ram being on 1st or not, but I really cannot "feel" any power gain from it. Headers would be nice, but I have heard froma few that if you don't have an exhaust that can freely let the air flow out, you will not get the full benifit that the header has to offer.
