Default P0511 CEL Help

Hey,

I need some help with my 06 Xb. The ECU keeps logging code P0511 and the idle is very erratic, specifically when the engine is cold. I have removed the throttle body and completely cleaned it. I have also replaced the idle control valve as well. I can clear the code, but the idle issues come back in a few days and the code is back as well. I am thinking the next step would be a new throttle position sensor or a new ECU. Has anyone else had this problem with a known good idle control valve?

Thanks,

Replace your spark plugs and throw some fuel injector cleaner in your tank and try that.

The plugs have about 6k miles on them, I can take them out to see if anything looks wrong. I will try the injector cleaner as well. The car has 275k miles on it, all from me. I have never cleaned the injectors since I bought it.

Thanks,

add the fuel injector cleaner when you have a half a tank of gas in it...

And don't worry, you can't add too much. Like jct said, do a half tank and throw a whole bottle in. With almost 300K miles on it and never cleaing your injectors, I'm guessing that is all it is, hopefully. Generally those would have needed a good cleaning about 200K miles ago. Haha. Report back and let us know what you have done and how it worked.

Also, the spark plugs are new, and your issue is new. Are we sure they are gapped correctly?
