Performance heads for XB

I work for a machine shop who makes engine parts for a very reputibale company. He told me that if I found enought people that would like a Performance head for the Scion that we could look into production of some thing like that. How many out there might be interested in this? Please pass this around so I can get some feed back. I know I want one. And yes they would be built percise, no screwing around.
Thanks,

pretty expensive gamble. cause most headwork done thus far was pretty much pointless on this car.........

Baine 04-21-2006 02:07 PM

What's the price range?

Who has done 1NZ-FE headwork on Scions?

Does the 64-bit ECU have anything to do with the poor results?

hotbox05 04-21-2006 06:34 PM

64 bit ecu is the killer of all good things.... lol

the guy that did headwork was like tweedle or some weird name like that , he did headwork , and some other things that hadn't been done before to gain 10hp the first run which the ecu turned into like 1hp. so yeah if he runs around with his foot in it , it'll slowly gain the hp back to an extent but yeah.....

i know if I drive more than like 100 miles of highway/easy accel my car will not be fast if I try to be fast I gotta drive around like a jackarse for a few minutes b4 the ecu goes into "fast learning" , lol

yeah its wierd, some days my car has no get-up-n-go, on other days it feels much quicker.

the guy who did all that stuff was "twiddler" i think.

IICEman 04-22-2006 02:07 PM

I'd be interested in the head. Just because only one person has done headwork doesnt mean everyones will act the same. I mean come on not every car is the same. you could have two cars come off the assembly line consecutively and one car have more hp than the other. So like many have said you shouldnt FLAME if you havent done it yourself.

Subcompact Culture 04-22-2006 02:55 PM

I don't think anyone here is flaming anyone.

The fact of the matter is, our cars have 64-bit learning ECUs that bascially retard our engines when power-adders are installed. You'd have to drive your car like you hate it ALL THE TIME for the ECU to take any benefit of headwork. At least, this is how I'm understanding it.

XBdntusee 04-22-2006 03:17 PM

All right Greaaaat!!

I want to thank all of you for your replys. So we have a ECU that plays sherif. Then if we put in a after market ecu in the XB then it should fix that problem right. Now I understand why some times my XB seems like it has more get up and go then other times. I was going to put in an air intake and exast first for up grades but now I think I will replace my ECU first. Unless I am thinking of some thing differnt. With that said wich after market ecu would be best?
Thanks again for all the replys.

XBdntusee 04-22-2006 03:19 PM

Sorry about that I dont have a price range yet. We are trying to see if it would be worth it to build em.

IICEman 04-22-2006 06:40 PM

well I personally beat the crap out of my car all the time and have not reset my ecu after I threw a code for water in my intake. So I havent had any problems with mine running slow one day and fast the next.

Velheru 04-22-2006 07:01 PM

If the price was right Id be interested in a head, then i would just have to hope that a viable ecu replacement comes around.

XBdntusee 04-22-2006 07:46 PM

Dosent any one make a replacment computer for the xb? I think that would be the first thing to replace. So every thing else you add on would add as much horse power as the adds say. Well hope fully!!

hotbox05 04-22-2006 08:49 PM

there is no replacement computer , but the greddy emanage is an awesome setup. easy to use , they sell them with the harnesses for straight plug in play but I think they only come plug n play in their supercharger kit but i'm sure u can find one somehow.

I know I certainly wasn't flaming anyone . all I was simply doing was stating that such a large fiscal investment may not give the gains as are normally had on other cars. just a precautionary measure.

yeah i get that feeling too, glad to see its not just me.

captdownshift 05-06-2006 05:01 PM

megasquirt, headwork and ITB's should wake it up nicely though, the problem is there is no cam out for the car :(

hotbox05 05-06-2006 07:39 PM

cams can get reground for 95 a cam. crane cams price.

captdownshift 05-06-2006 10:24 PM

i know that they *can* be it's been talked about for months, but nobody has any results on the performance...
or whether or not any problems arrised
