Default re-power 2006 XA

I would like to re-power without alot of modifications. Should I just buy a a block and have it built or is there a better more powerful motor that fits? What have others done? I do not want to just ad this and that. I'm new here so please don't blast me if this has been covered over and over. Thanks

If by re-power you mean increase power?
I'd consider having the engine built a significant mod.

What are you really going for here? Do you have a goal in mind? Budget?

I'm thinking my budget at about 5,000.> I don't really want to start modifying the enguine in there now. I would like to either have something built or buy something already out there? Do I just buy the same enguine and have it modified or get a different motor? Either way I would like this enguine out. I'm not looking to build a drifter or anything, I just want the motor to be a bit of a suprize! Lets put it this way, I've been looking to buy a Sunbeam Alpine Tiger.....I like this car and want to beef up the motor a bit. I think it might save me money........the tiger's alot....lol

Thanks

Well, there really aren't any swaps that are easily done. Honestly, I would just boost the engine that's already in there.

Blitz makes a supercharger for it. Bumps the power up significantly.

i would buy another (same) motor and do a complete re build with all high end stuff and and go from there.
i like the riliability of NA but if you want to go FI................ you can go that way.

the reason i say buy another engine is:

#1 you can still drive the car wile your doing all the engine work
#2 you can get alot better internals that OEM and make the engine "alot" will the full build

then you you can add on whatever add ons you want and you will be golden.

there are a least one guy that i know that was done a full guild on his xA negine and his car is bad A5S

Blitz and Power Enterprises make superchargers for the xA. Greddy, HKS, and possibly the 365 Motorworks turbos may fit the xA with minor piping modifications.

I am building a xB motor right now. I bought a used spare from a salvage yard for $250. I'f you're spending $1,200 - 1,500 on engine parts, get another motor, it makes the build so much easier. You can keep your car as a daily driver until ready for install and won't feel rushed to get it back on the road, allowing the time to get it done right.

I did need to send the mid-block out to be bored and honed. Everything else I am doing myself. Please don't think though that you can just slap all the aftermarket internals in and think it's built. You will need to balance the internals and check all bearing tolerances to make sure everything is in spec. If there's too little clearance the bearings will seize from lack of oil, and if there's too much your oil pressure will be too low, not to mention the extra paly in the crank will cause early failure.

To help you get started, I highly recommend this book:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/190...F8&me=&seller=

I'm doing a full tutorial, you can follow the build here:

Right now the block is out, I plan on starting re-assembly next week.
