Default SCION-PARTS.COM xB RUNS 12.97

Since we got the new dyno numbers on the xB, we have been trying to get the car to track. We haven't had much luck, because Fontana keeps getting rained out.
We decided to try our luck and drove out to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for their Midnight Mayhem event last night.

We got 3 passes last night.
The first pass was a 12.97 @ 104mph
The second pass was a 13.7 @ 102mph - on a misshift
The third and final pass was a 13.6 @ 82mph - the headgasket ended up lefting somewhere around the 660 and decided to fully yack at about the 1000ft .

The motor is already out of the car and hopefully we will have it all back together within the next few weeks ....

yep that's fake. sent e mails and all. no timeslip, no video, never seen him at any event. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to know that with hks turbo kit, that turbo is way to small to push enough air to produce that much power. I'm in the same situation. more boost on the turbo i have doesnt do much at all cause it's almost maxed out.

what motor do you have that's runnin 18 psi?

and if you've built the motor which you obviously had to why did it blow up after a few dyno runs and 3 track runs?......

last i heard was tony running 13.6 if i remember correctly. his xb's been totalled.

he's a stand up guy and not lying..

We are running the 1NZ-FE the motor that comes in the xB. Yes it is a built motor it the car is our support vehicle for both of the race cars. It was driven probably about 3000 miles or so before we had a really good "dyno" tune on it . There are 3 dyno sessions on that car. Prior to that it was tuned on the street, while we were traveling around the country by our tuner.

As to why it blew up ?? We blew a head gasket.... it happens.
The whole motor is NOT blown. We chose to tear down the whole block to see how things held up. We also elected to change out the pistons because of seeing a bit of detonation on the tops. I chose to raise the compression over stock on the set of pistons we ordered..Why ??? ....Well, because I'm just a nut like that...who knows maybe because I'm an all motor head ??. I like higher compression with boost, but it doesn't always work well with pump gas. Especially 91 octane which is the highest grade we can get at the pump out here. So we are going to swap out the pistons for 9.5:1, instead of the almost 11:1 ratio we had.

im kind of a visual person. i've only heard of that time and seen it talked about. Not trying to sound harsh or pick a fight really, but I don't buy it ( TONY's CAR). I've run 15 psi on my Turbo before (similar size) and it is not close to being a 12 sec car.

The Scionparts.com xB has a fully sleeved block and is built from top to bottom, the turbo they use I believe is a gt25r. A blown head gaskit is minor compared to blowing a motor! ( believe me I know lol) Takes a LOT of work to make that 1.5 to run that fast, so Kudos!
