Default Starting Upgrades

What would be the best performance parts to start of with for the XB? I'm just getting started with mine. Need alot of good advice. I live in the Rockies too, so do i need a specific air intake? Because I heard that there is a chance of sucking up water with some intakes, true?

best thing to do is establish a goal with your car. otherwise you might end up wasting money on parts that you don't end up using or replacing later. one place you can't go wrong with a good suspension drop with some sways, springs and shocks.

if you just want some extra power and growl, pick out a good intake, header exhaust set up.

if you spend alot of time in traffic, i say invest in a nice sound system so you have some tunes to listen to while sitting bumper to bumper.

Before a Scion Backstage event, I heard dealers being instructed on the TRD mods for the xB2. They were told that mods like the exhaust and CAI only added a few HP and could not be felt. If they can't be felt on the xB2, it is not likely they can be felt on the xB1. That is not entirely true, of course, or else no one would buy them. Such mods can be felt in the way that cards in bicycle spokes are felt.

I agree that springs/sway should be top on your list.
If you get an intake and are worried about water, get a short ram. (the only thing you need to worry about with a short ram are car washes with underspray)

Exhaust is nice for sound, but there's not really a change in power.

I have an Injen short ram intake, Strup header, Borla axle-back exhaust, and Perrin pulley. It doesn't feel like the same car I bought. It's still no racer by any means but it doesn't have that falling on it's face feeling anymore. I can get into traffic pretty much anywhere without worrying about getting hit.

Default NOS

I say the cheapest and best mod for speed if Nitrous for our xB, I have a dry kit with a 35 shot and it is GREAT to dust a car when they think I'm stock hehehe

Wow your already spraying your RS 4 With NOS? That takes ***** guess you didnt take the extended warranty.

I agree with most people.

I took my time in finding parts, got them used and for a fraction of MSRP. Look for some springs that are only about an 1-2'' lower you dont want to get too low living in the rockies.

Find some sway bars, all of them are the same I have never seen a difference in different sway and strut bars......

Go with some nice small 15'' wheels and put some fatty tires on them to keep things smooth. Big wheels look nice but ride like hell expecially on crappy roads. Plus those rubber band tires dont exactly stick to the road 100%.

As for a system a good 12'' sub or a couple 10'' subs sound GREAT! Replace your head unit with a good one that will improve your door speakers or replace all of them, this makes for good sounding tunes while driving on the freeway or impressing your buddies.

Intake, header, exhausts are great and make for a sick sounding xB but dont do too much for the overall performance, but like others said its not the same xb compared to your stock one.

Thats about all from me

Thanks to all that replied. So,......15" wheels huh? Was interested in 17s or 18s, looking at the Sport Max lineup. There really isn't that many wheels out there that fit on the box huh?

I have sportmax 962's and I am very pleased with them. I would deffinatly go, Springs, swaybar, wheels, exhaust, intake and then if you still want more (you will, trust me) header and pulley. The first four mods I listed will be a good start, trust me, even a mild drop on the xB drastically changes the look of the xB
