Default Switching Transmissions

Lets say that I have 2 xB's. One automatic and one manual......How hard would it be to trade out the transmissions? Keep in mind tha this is totally hypothetical. They should just bolt right up, shouldn't they?

Not to mention the clutch pedal and cable that has to be installed, and also related brackets, etc. It probably could be done but I sure wouldn't want to attempt the job!!

Seeing as how these are Japanese cars, and they are nutty
about reusing parts rather then making new tooling for the
same car, I'd say it's probably pretty straight forward, except
for all the parts, oh, and your ECU is probably tweeked for
Auto over Manual!!

It would be a nightmare.

I'd say there's a pretty good reason why the xB is shipped from Japan in precisely two flavors: Automatic and Manual.

Clutch pedal, PRND2L indicator, shifter, ECU/emissions...I'm sure there's plenty more ramifications to think about, too. It's a fun thought experiment, but I could think of far more rewarding and imaginative modifications to an xB that could be accomplished with that level of effort and investment.

Not worth the $$ and hassle, IMO. It might be different if only one was available here. And having a stick won't really make you any faster. If you've got that kinda money to spend, get an SC or some NOS...

I guess I cant see the point here, why not just drive the manual one, and when you dont feel like shidting drive the auto, imean you have two right?
