Vibration

I have an 06 Auto, and I am noticing a lot more vibration from the car at stop lights, I can make it stop by shifting into neutral. I have about 76 thousand miles. I am wondering what it could be...

Maybe engine mounts?

would it be because they are loose or because the rubber in them is getting worn out? Anyone else experience this?

N0AuTHoRiTy 01-08-2010 05:29 PM

Getting worn out, so it's not absorbing the vibration from the engine as much.

TunerKid 01-08-2010 10:24 PM

Sounds like it needs a tune up

Try new plugs, clean the TB and run a can of Seafoam thru a tankfull of fuel every time you change the oil. The Seafoam will do wonders.

spr0k3t 01-09-2010 06:59 PM

It's the plugs. I don't think it's a tune-up. If you are idling rough while in gear, the plugs need to get swapped out. There's three schools of thought on which ones to get:

1. Cheap copper, swap out at every oil change
2. Iridium based, swap out around 50K-75K
3. Crazy high end plug with temp change based on how the motor is tuned.

Me personally, go with option 1 or 2 (I prefer NGK plugs) unless your box is running F/I.

If you have not performed any seafoam treatment, that would be a good suggestion as well.

Where do you get the seafoam? Does that go in the gas tank? I did the sparkplugs and still have the problem.

bB2NER 01-12-2010 04:12 PM

Seafoam is at most auto parts places and wally world. It goes in the fuel tank and you use 1 oz. per gallon of fuel. Basically 1 can per tank.
It cleans the injectors, valves and combustion chambers.

padillaXA 01-12-2010 11:12 PM

ive got this problem too. im gettin new plugs and sum sea foam. should i even worry about the rubber on the mounts tho?

padillaXA 01-13-2010 06:01 AM

nvmd my mounts is good. just put some new iridiums in my mini-mini van and some of that sea foam shiz and it did the trick within hours.

archangel 01-13-2010 02:17 PM

I have iridiums in there now, not quite sure how long I have had them in there, I think I am going to get copper plugs side gap them and index them. I will also try the seafoam as well. I have never heard anything bad from people using the stuff.

padillaXA 01-13-2010 04:48 PM

you should pull your sparkers out and just check. the iridiums usual last me about 2 years, but i drive hard, used to have a turbo too so that made a lil difference.

bB2NER 01-14-2010 05:13 AM

Irridiums should be good for 100K miles plus. They cost more than regular plugs but the gap stays constant over time.
I just did Seafoam in the sentra cause it started to idle rough. After a few miles it smooted right out. I use it in the box every 5K miles to avoid the issue.

gtixb 01-16-2010 12:32 AM

I have the same problem as well, went from copper to iridium to copper plugs, and none of them have solved this problem

padillaXA 01-16-2010 05:24 PM

probly not the plugs then...try the sea foam, works wonders. i had a belt a while back that was way too tight and was causing me problems, rough idling being one of the symptoms. probly not your problem if you've never messed with your belts and had them replaced when due but it could be worth a check.

archangel 01-27-2010 02:52 PM

So I changed the plugs, put in sea foam in the oil and the gas, and cleaned out my K and N and it still vibrates I was not able to index the plugs because no local place has indexing washers, I still need to order them off the net.

Why did you put some in the oil?

padillaXA 01-27-2010 07:41 PM

last time i checked you weren't supposed to put it in the oil! thats really really bad for the car. the only time you should put any thinner like that in the oil is to clean it out. and even then you shouldn't have it in there for more than 15-30 min then flush the oil. but if your putting it in there for everyday driving you might have some pretty big problems down the road!(someone correct me if im wrong but more often than not ive been taught to keep that stuff away from the oil unless im flushing and changing it.)

bB2NER 01-28-2010 03:33 AM

You can add Seafoam to the oil but like padillaXA said, it's only to run in there for a short time them dumped out and replaced with fresh oil and filter.
