Alrighty Fellas, wanna know what the results are?!?!

Here's the dyno sheet. The blue line is before header installation, the red line is after:

Before header 84.24hp & 85.80 Torque
After Header 88.62hp & 87.41 Torque

So... I gained about 4.38 HP.

What do you guys think?

Looks like a good solid gain. Anywhere near what the header manufacturer said? Just curious.

Straight from there site.

Yeah, looks like it killed your bottom end. How does it feel? I dont know if that small of a gain up top is worth the very signifigant loss in torque. The power curve doesnt look like it tappers off at the top which is good.

I guess there would be a loss at lower driving speeds, but the gains take place at 4300rpm, so during a launch and race situation you should be in the positive end of the curve through out.

It feels a little more "peppy". Not by a whole lot though. I feel better throttle response, and it seems like it breaths a little better.
I cant really feel a decrease in the bottom end, though it shows on the graph. I guess I couldnt feel it because it sux so hard anyways stock.
I do feel the increase in the upper RPM's.

MMW site says the header gives you 10 HP?!
I'd like to see an independant Dyno run on a manual with JUST the header. I seriously doubt it would make almost 3 times the hp of an auto.

You MIGHT be able to get that with a IHE combo on a manual tranny.

But as far as the Header alone? Heck no...

I'll take any HP I can get. I wasnt expecting 10hp out of it to be honest. I was kind of hoping for about 5hp though.

I know you can't do too much with these little engines, unless you're going to boost it.
I am a little dissapointed, but whatever... I'll take 4hp

Yeah, i would too (4hp), though I would have predicted an
honest 7hp, but gains add up. A buddy of mine keeps asking
me to do a dyno run, but I just don't like seeing the
numbers on these things, it really doesn't reflect how they
actually feel. But I may after the header, and I have a 5
speed. The MMW header is what I want, strictly because of
the mountable heat shield. So, maybe I will spend the 40
after and compare with yours. If i dont go MMW i'll test
whatever it is and post it up....at least 2 months, I have
exceeded my monthly budget on the box by a month or two,
according to the old lady. We'll see, but you should be
happy it wasn't a total wash. Good luck with future mods!

honestly 4.5hp out of a header on a car that is putting out mid80's is a very nice gain, i mean you're looking at around a 5% gain in power. I don't think you'll see a 10hp gain from just a header on any 4cyn N/A built after 1990. Even with a full exhaust that retains a cat you'd be pushing it a bit. But that is possible

DMAN. Was the before and after done on the same day?
If you didn't, was it cooler on the first run a few days ago? That my be why it showing so low.

Just my .02 cents

No they were done about a week apart.
It was actually a little cooler for the second run.

Thats Weird...Did you resent the ECU? (I keep wanting it to make more power than it is showing, lol)

Yeah that top end looks nice and healthy.
pretty jagged looking line though. What's up with that?

nah, I didnt reset the ecu.
Immediatly after the install, I didnt notice the gain. After a couple of days, it felt like it kicked in, then I did the dyno.

I dont know why it's all jagged.
Could it maybe be that way because the graph is of hp in the 80's. If it were a 200+ hp reading it would look smoother because the graph resolution would increase. But I dunno :?
Would that matter?

I'm thinking about losing my cat

you know that would mean even less torque, right..?

i would acctually really like to see a dyno for 18 vs light weight 16/15 inch rims, maybe thats just me.

less torque? really? I thought it would free things up for exhaust flow?
I too wouldlove to see the diff between 18 & 15" wheels. I'm betting that it would look better on the dyno, and feel a HECK of a lot better too. I wish I didnt get rid of my stock wheels now

Yeah, free exhaust=less back pressure=less bottom end torque/more top end hp. Your peek torque might go up a bit, but that torque curve down low will be even worse. Hp will go up, I'm guessing 2-3hp

I just ordered some 16" konig feathers, 15.x lbs per rim. Should be in on friday or so, Im exited... Goodby heavy 18s!!

DMan, get that PM exhaust already and see what that adds! I agree on the stockies. I am hesitant on getting rims because I don't like the idea of slowing the already slow box down any more.

After about a year of having mine, I have to say thats a smart choice. less hp,mpg and breaking ability. Thought 18s look amazing on our boxes!!
