VVT-i + engine starting problem

second time in a few months or so i don't keep track of dates when things break or happen...

anyways i start my car for a few seconds then shut it off, let it sit for 8 hrs/over night when i try to start it it sounds like it doesn't want to start and it sounds like it's free spinning with no compression...

but after i get it started every thing operates just fine...

doesn't throw any codes what so ever. just pretty annoying when it happens.

i do change my oil every 5k with 5w30 pennzoil platinum

You're a well known guy on here, respect. However, you should never start a vehicle and then shut it off within such a short period of time for this reason. I've told that my whole life, so I've always practiced it. If I've ever needed to move my car or something just a few feet, I just push it. But if I'm on a hill or something, I fire it up but then let it idle down a bit before shutting if off. I don't think there's any issue, just don't start your car for only a few seconds and then shut it down. Might have to do with flooding. It dumps more than it planned on, and doesn't use it all. I always give it a small 3K rev at the end to burn it all up so I have a nice start up next time.

i told my self that before... i just tend to forget :-\

Haha. You should be alright. Just stop doing it, or let it sit for a bit and rev out of it before shuttin' 'er down. Or just push it like me :)

i only start it just to make sure i didn't screw any thing up...

criminaltc 03-19-2014 11:08 AM

Oh right right, I got you. Yeah, in which case you'd just let it idle it out a few cycles and rev out, and you'll be just fine the next time.

only when i remember  until then i'll just have to suffer with my own screw ups >_<

criminaltc 03-19-2014 06:49 PM

I disagree, you should remember.

jct 03-19-2014 10:30 PM

i agree, just need to get it programed into my brain
