If you are talking about the big circular rubber thing, I think it has something to do with the motor mount cause it's attached to the motor mount bracket. It's probably some sort of dampner for the motor mount.
to be honest, if it were gone, you probably wouldnt
notice anything. Those are all over the place, and as a whole
dampen vibration to some extent. I work on Acura's all day
and they have them on the rear mount, attached to one of the
three bolts there, and its on all there cars. I'm sure it was
derived fom some guy who ws told to bring vibration
down to some level, and TA DA! little rubber thingys.

It's an anti-oscillation antenna and protects against noticeable rythmic oscillations in mechaninal rotation. It is similar to the calm you experience when you make an alluminum foil hat and wear it out side. Don't forget to make it pointed.
