xB Engine Swap?
Exactly. ^^^
Generally speaking, most of the engine swapping done DIY isn't to brand new cars. Of course there are exceptions.
The costs of an engine swap, not to mention the unknown costs of fabbing and fixing, doesn't seem worth the small gains over a mild turbo or SC setup.
Another thing to consider is that if you swap engines, you're gonna need to run a different ECU for it and since the OEM one won't be connected to what its supposed to monitor, you can probably kiss things like VSC and ABS and TRAC goodbye. How about the airbags? Will they deploy if the computer thinks the car isn't running? Are you willing to risk tampering with Federally Mandated equipment? What happens if you get in a wreck and the passenger airbag doesn't go off, what's your insurance and/or the other sides attorneys going to say?
Anyway, back to daydreaming...
I want a solid Rocket Booster for my Box. Just think, the Shuttle does 0-17,500 MPH in 8.5 minutes. I figure about a 2 second controlled burn should get me down to the low 14's but I gonna wait to track test it until I get my big brake kit!!! Even if I don't beat any records, I could still qualify for a Darwin Award...
