Boost sending unit ???
 

I need to know where the best place to hook my Boost sending unit (pic. link below) up at is and best way to hook it up. Please be specific, i have done a few mods but this i imagine will be the hardest. So any information and things(parts and pics) extra that is needed to get the job done correctly, will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. I have searched this item, and it was only mentioned breifly in a thread by DGhotlava and Matchbox, but they were not specfic enough because they knew where theres were already.

my boost gauge has a thin hose (like a windshield washer) going from the boost pipe to the gauge itself. (mechanical gauge)

that monster you linked is an electrical one. it converts the mechanical signal(boost) to an electrical signal for your gauge to display.

i have mine about 8-10 inches before my throttle body.

you'll need a drill, tap, pipe tape, wire and connectors.
find a place where you can fit that monster in there... mark... and drill. (you'll have to figure out what the proper thread pitch is and what size drill bit to use...)

Im sorry Dghotlava but what are you actually hooked into, thats is 8-10 inches before your TB, wouldnt that be your air intake. Please for give my ignorance im new to the mechanical side of a car, im a car stereo installer, so im learning a whole new side to cars.

first question i have for you...are you running a turbo/supercharger???

if not, the boost gauge will never read abouve 0.
if you just have an intake, you will always be in a vacuum.

Well the supercharger is on its way, not in yet. But i am trying to get as much info on installling all the components that go with it ahead of time and this is one of the last things. So is it installed on the intake or where, and what exactly is always in vacum mean with the intake. Once again i apoligize for my ignorance, you guys are really helping me learn all this thou.

what supercharger??? there are two diff types and this will change where/how you install the boost gauge.


here is something for you to undestand how the gauge will act.
if you have a straw (intake) and you breath in through the straw (the pistons drawing in the air), this is a vacuum situation.

now put an air compressor blow tip on the other side of the straw....
the blow tip will force more air in than you can suck in. (this is boost, and why it is called forced induction...)

now to get the boost reading, you need to put the sensor between the supercharger and the throttle body.

Im geeting the greddy SC.

to get a boost reading with the greddy, youll need to tap into your vacuum line, or if the manifold it comes with has a hole, you can use that, otherwise drill a hole into the manifold for it.

Hey xbilly i saw on the other post you not happy you got the blitz why dont you just sell that thing and get a greddy, oh and thanks for the help. The hole that comes already on the greedy what is it there for got any clue.

the only reason I wish I got a greddy is i would have installed it by now, the way Im doing the blitz I have to wait for my O2 sensor bung to be welded on to my exhaust, which is the only part of the project can't do myself(could but dont like the risk)
Other than that I'm excited about the blitz i've just been siiting on it so long that I wish I got the greddy and was done with it.
I like the switchable clutch that the blitz offers
As far as the existing hole on the greddy, im not sure which you mean but if its on the manifold its prbly for a boost guage.

The greddy has a vacume port in the manifold side of the SC.. the Vac port also is used for vacume operated press reg.

I installed the Greddy in my car a 5spd and an auto the other day.. on the auto the guy put a Boost gauge and he was telling me that he was getting only 5 lbs boost.. I know Gredyd claims it to produce 8.5 lbs boost..

So is that correct that it has to be tapped into between that TB and SC and not the Manifold?

Anybody got a deffinent answer on this, cause im getting a little lost with all the different answers. Dghotlava???

i belive on the greddy type it would go on the manifold. if it was the PE one it would go on after the TB becuase it is set up more like a turbo.. the greddy one the SC sits righton top of the manifold so if you put the boost sender after the TB you willlr ead only vacume becuase hte SC is mounted after the TB.

Correct me if im wornge?
