Anyone knows......
I just installed a add-on remote starter on my tc. It works perfectly. It uses the origional lock and unlock buttons on the origional key. The tc has a transponder in the key so it is necessary to have a by-pass module to trick the computer into thinking there is a key in the ignition to run the motor. My problem lies where thet since the car thinks the key is in the ignition while having the car running by the remote starter, me on the outside of the car cant use the unlock button on the key to unlock the doors. Does anyone know how to fix this, to have the car able to use the remote buttons on the key with the key in the ignition and the key on ON??????
It can't be done,
When the car starts it reads that there is a key in the ignition and then cuts out the Remote Keyless Entry system (RKE). In order for the remote start to work, there MUST be a key in the ignition, otherwise the car would turn itself off because it would think someone hotwired it. (The immobilizer system).
You may want to talk to other remote start scions to see if thiers work like you want it too. If it does that means there is just some calibration that is off on your car that is putting the RKE system into a suspended mode early.
Or, what may be happeneing is that the transponder in the car is the same ID that is sending your messages in the new keyfob, so the car thinks it is getting the messages from the key inthe ignition which it will ignore. Try using your second key, or having the place that installed your Rem. Start. to use your second key ID as the new keyfob ID.
