AUDIO HELP!!! Subs are pulsing with no sound

so i was trying to do this stupid avic d2 bypass by grounding the parking brake wire then taking out another wire and putting it into the empty slot which i had a hard time with and it really didnt work. Now, i think i did something wrong cuz my subwoofers just pulse. no music is playing and it is really loud pulsing. as soon as my head unit brackets touch the bolts you can hear noise from my subwoofer...so what could it be?

Blown pico fuse?

CMalagise32 02-23-2008 04:13 PM

so I had to ground my RCA cables and it solved the problem....any idea why?

Olesen_Custom_Automotive 02-24-2008 12:15 AM

did you run a line converter? or wire directly into the d2?

CMalagise32 02-24-2008 09:33 PM

directly

Blown Pico Fuse :lalala:

Pios are notorious for blowing the pico fuse. Design wise, its too small of a value. You should run a 16ga wire from the HU case/cage to chassis/system ground before connecting power for the first time.

Can be repaired...DIY (if you have tools and enough electronics knowledge) or sent out. The RCA ground will eliminate about 98% of the noise. If thats OK with your ears, then you are done. If not, as was in my case, I did the repair.

you put the wire in the wrong place! and FYI, D2s arent done that way. www.avic411.com might help ya

what do you mean i put the wire in the wrong place? d2's arent done what way? And Tanakasan...I have NO idea what a pico fuse is or what you mean by all the grounding haha...I'm kinda confused cuz I had my rca cables run to my amp and to my head unit for about 2 years and all of a sudden when i got behind the radio again somethin musta went wrong..

Not to bump this from the dead, but how do you ground the RCA wires? I am having the same problem with my subs pulsing when I try and use a line in audio input for my underbody kit.

Huh? :lalala:

Heres the link to my 880PRS specific repair, 11 posts down:

Heres some pics, 880PRS guts:

That fuse is tiny! FU351 to the left of the brass standoff in pic. Jumper across it with a 1 ohm 1/4w resistor or a single strand of copper wire.

Added chassis ground wire after repair

And the shortcut hack fix for the blown fuse, internet pic :
