Blue lit dash, HOW?
Anybody know if it's possible to replace all the orange dash lighting with blue? I'm talking the dash, the instrument cluster, the storage box, etc. I HATE that orange crap. I want BLOOOOOOOO!!!!!

how weird, I was just talking to Ad-roc about this 20 minutes ago... I want indigo blue to go interior.. but waiting for other stuff first.. I'd be happy to help, I used to solder LEDs in phones (still have a red LED nokia  ) but I imagine these parts in the cars couldn't be much more difficult for sizing...

I agree man. I hate the orange displays. That is the worst color on earth. I'd prefer a white or bluish/white. Sorry I don't have any answers, just complaints.

If you also want to accent the blue leds with some floor lighting..make sure you get a set of Randode Racing Cathode Light Kits..they are cool and very reasonably priced.
If anyone does the LED swap, please post..I want to do this as well. |

Here are the pics you requested... http://www.mattguillory.com/my_xB/Center_Console_00.JPG Here is the storage compartment under the center console. http://www.mattguillory.com/my_xB/Storage_LEDs_00.JPG Peace, m@ |
what kind of resistor did you use for the LEDs m@ ? I used 480 ohms on my cup holders but tried it on the compartment and it wouldn't even light up...not sure if the door lights uses lower voltage then I have to use lower ohms..

Can't remember exactly, but that sounds about right. I think the ultimate would be to use Varad Hyper LEDs though. They are *SO* bright! I don't think it gets any better than that. They're pre-wired with resistors too. Here's a link to a set of blue ones. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2449576078 Peace, m@ |
here's what I did on my xA..
door open, cold cathode ( couldn't get the LED to work ) http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...d/fa37cde5.jpg headlight on and door open ( cup holders are LED with 420 ohms) http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...a/fa37cdf1.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...6/fa37cdea.jpg |
Eric,
That looks RAD!!! Those xA's have that cool clear door. Great job! Peace, m@ |

theres a japanese OPTIONAL kit
that has a switch LIKE the cup holder lighting accent.. except its a little LED thing that changes all sorts of colors.. u replace the little bulbs INSIDE the cluster with it.. theres like a handfull.. throughout your center console/tachometer area. thats why its WHITE faced and like amber this and that.. the lighting kit will let u push a button and change your WHOLE dash kit,.. but its original toyota product. not some cheap TAIWAIN indiglow kit.. =) i got the kit in stock.. let me know.. U might have to do a lil CUSTOM wiring because i believe th e wiring is a lil different from JAPAN to US... |
whats the price on the kit?

you makin kits? in green? What you are seeing is a white center console, that's absorbing blue light. There are two reason why I have white. (a) Since my xB is white, I wanted more of the interior to match. (b) With a white center console, it can absorb the blue light from the LED rearview mirror much easier. The light in the center console storage compartment is a 3-way laser LED that you can pick up at Fry's Electronics. They're actually made for computers, but why not put them in an xB right? A hole is drilled into the back of the compartment to run/conceal wires and the LED housing is mounted in the very back. The LEDs are tapped into the under-dash lighting for power and everything can be turned on by one switch. BTW... I'll take some new pics tonight, because it looks 100 times better now! Oh... and no, I don't make kits. Peace, m@ |
