Ozniums 12" cathodes are $6.49 a pair!
Thinking about installing 4" cathodes in my handles...but I ran into a problem. I'm making a huge LED buy from oznium right now. I was reading up on their 4" dual cathode kits.. The cathode tubes are each 11 inches from the control/power box, so a total of 22 inches from each other at most. I just went out and measured the handles in the xB, they are close to at least 30 inches. So what to do now? Get cathodes from a diff company? I like oznium, and I know you can't extend the white wire where it comes out of the power box.

When I wrote that, I think I was talking about the under seat lighting....
If you are doing grab handles, LED's are the way to go IMO
I'm talking about the flexible LED strips that oznium sells.
You can probably get by with two 9.5" strips, then cut them down to fit in all you grab handles.

Cathodes will be visible, you can tuck the LED's in the handles if you take out a rib.

if you get two 9.5" and cut them in half, you can save a few bucks....
but it might not be worth it to solder and all.. pay the extra few bucks :D

when you cut the 9.5" strip in half, both sides still have wires to connect to power and ground?

you'll have to do some soldering. The strips show you where you can cut them. And it also has a little pad or something to solder to. But it might be worth it to just spend a little more and get the shorter ones that fit

I put the 4" cathode tubes in the handles with no problem. Actually you have to cut the wire and add some wire to it, but not much. You want to do it with as little wire as needed. You can do this to the 4" tubes but not the 12" tubes. Since the 4" uses less power to run you can add a little wire without losing what is needed to power the light correctly with the drop in resistance. Check out my pics on the 4th page and you can see what it ended up looking like.

This is what I HAD to do, as I could only find 9" strips without ordering online.
The lights are generally wired in the strip in series or three and then a little resistor. You have to watch where you cut to complete the series to keep all the bulbs lit.
I noticed that the wiring pins locations, for the + and- on the strip changed in the second half. If I didn't make sure what is the + feed and - feed was on the second half, and just went by the locations, I would have hooked it up wrong

I used a dremel to grind away the silicone at each of the two pins locations , Checked with a meter to make sure, and then soldered the wires to the both + and - filled with silicone and let dry overnight.

I would say if you are the type of person that has a hand full of thumbs, best buy the correct size strips as the pin locations are pretty small.

I have two 12" cold cathodes under the dash and I have them running on a 3 amp fuse. should be fine for four 4 inch ones.
