Error 3 and Error 4 Message on 6-Disk Player
I dont know if this is a common first Gen issue.. But the 6 Disk CD Player has begun to flake out and keeps saying Error 3 or Error 4, wont Eject or Load, but when my battery died, it completely reset it popped the CD's out and then after a while went right back to Error 3 or Error 4!!
if you change the name of your thread to something like "6 disc HU problems" you would get alot of help.
the title "another question" donsen't help anyone, you or the search tab.
this way if other have the same problem and they do a search they can find your post and see what you did to fix it.

i used to get that issue with my stock hu. i had a single cd player but it wold do the same thing where it would not want to spit the cd out or even take it in. I am not sure what the problem was, because before i was too worried about it i got a new radio.
But just so you might have some comfort in numbers, i have experienced it as well.

At my shop, we had a period where we would replace those stereo units at least once a week. My contact at Pioneer says that the Error#3 is the most common. Dealers cannot fix this problem in-house and would have to rely on replacement units. You may be better off getting a non-factory stereo unit as a replacement, as sending this particular radio to Pioneer would cost too much to fix.
Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Thank you... Yah good point with the Title thing.. I will get the hang of this eventually, I have been finding a trick i have to press load, then when it begins to load, goes to the Error message, so I shut off the card turn it back on and then its ready to load and then plays the disk...
I took my head unit apart 3 times.
The fix is to take the head unit apart so that you can see the interleaved, sliding mechanism which is underneath the middle circuit board. It was a 'make or break' effort, requiring a lot of metal bending to release the tabs on the circuit board, and careful interconnect removal. Sorry, no pictures. I re-lubed the mechanism with a combination of White lithium and Marvel Mystery oil, wherever I could reach with a toothpick and small amounts of grease.
Works like new.
