help with amp suggestions for 10" l7 box

I have a kicker 10" l7 box and I am looking to power it with something decent.

I ordered the same amp you can see here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEBI:IT but I am not sure if that is 550watts of actual power or if it is soemthing else as it is not described at 'RMS' which I have no clue what I means..

Then I see this one on ebay here http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5712256024 which says it is only 500watts x 1 @ 4ohms but it is like double the price so I am thinking th one I have ordered may not be powerful enough for this box.

I was thinking a good solid 500watts x 1 @ 4ohms would be a nice match for this but I am not sure that is actually what I am going to end up getting with the amp I ordered.

Thanks in advance and I apologize for such the noob amp questions :)

rms= root mean square = the power that it can supply continuously. your sub has an RMS rating for the power it'll want all the time. that rockford amp that you ordered will give you 550 watts bridged rms power, and the reason the other amp costs so much more is because it is stable down to 2 ohms, where it puts out 1000 watts rms.

as long as you wire things correctly, then you'll get the desired results, i expect.
